Re: Herro
I don't know, doing fine I guess. A internet person from a long time ago came to a forum I frequent then hyped up some old ffxi pictures, then when asked about them he under hyped them. Feeling a bit let down but other than that I'm doing fine. Got my Barb to 55, feeling good about that.

So true, I still can't find a bst type class that's anywhere near the style and ability of BST. Also the hate system in FFXI still seem like it's the best. Where is my offline ffxi Square!

I still can't get over how long I played and you guys were killing Byakko and shit when I was lvl 30.
Xi was probably only as enjoyable as it was because Eden was funny as hell most of the time.
Kooyo and I were talking about how it would probably be more fun to play xi again at lvl 1 than it is to play 14 now ;3

Re: Herro
Day 1 PS2 launch.
I too judge other games off it. Looking back on it, despite everyone's bitching, that game took as much teamwork as a video game can take in my opinion. I remember first hearing about 64 people being able to team up to fight shit (which ended up being Dynamis) and being like holy shit that's awesome.
Lot of balance in that game, wish they hadn't raised the level cap.

Re: Herro
ff11 did have it's time and place and I look back on my experiences playing it very fondly. You're really tested as a gamer as far as skill and dedication is concerned. For some reason whenever I think of difficulty in MMOs, what comes to mind for me is soloing all of the avatars at 20, then working on fenrir / diabolos later on in the game. Knowing that I only had enough gil for 1 fight at a time, and if I lost, i'd have to spend the next few days farming again.
That alone added to the intensity of the fight. It almost seemed like everything regarding summoner was difficult for the sake of being difficult (unless you had $$ or high level connections heh). As a gamer tho, I loved the challenge because when you actually succeed, you get to walk around with a sense of accomplishment.
With all that being said, I don't think I could ever play it again with that same level of intensity. The amount of time needed to get stuff done is too unreasonable by today's standards imo. My requirement for any game I play these days needs to have a jump-in/jump-out mentality whether it's an MMO or not. Maybe I'm just getting older and have more responsibility / less free time (back then I was in between highschool and college). I'd love it if ff14 could capture all the greatness that ff11 embodied such as teamwork, challenge, and sense of adventure but stripped the time-sinks.
