I just read an article that said FF6 was the best FF game followed by FF4. My first FF game was 9 which has been my fav to this date, but I think the fact that it was my first has something to do with it. I've been playing FF7 here and there (graphics ehhh) on my PSP since it's downloadable off the Playstation network.
My question is: Do you guys know of any spyware-free/reliable resources to get my hands on some emulators that will play these games on my PSP?

I hacked my PSP so I can play NES/SNES/Genesis/PSX games on it. I suggest you do the same. Although it depends on the version of PSP you have. I used a very detailed guide (don't remember the site). If you do it right, it won't cost you anything, although I had already spent money on the pandora battery before I found out I could modify my battery.
