Help me be a pirate!

So yeah, who here downloads torrents and what program do you use to do it?
I'd like to pirate more stuff but I don't really understand how to do this without infecting my comp with viruses and spyware etc. Also some of them apparently track what you download and might report it to whatever faggots care about piracy.
I went online to get one and most are bitching about this version or that version so if someone knows a good client to use plz post it for me.

When I was very young and had no money, but a huge amount of spare time. I used to pirate loads of software. Most games were CRAP, so pirating meant I didn't waste my allowance money on them. Of course the internet didn't exist back then, so pirating meant cracking the copy protection on the floppy and making a copy to another floppy. Hmm.. Hard drives didn't exist either. But it was loads of fun and I got to try out hundreds of games that I wouldn't have had access to otherwise. The only downside was that the pirated games were usually, incomplete, and very buggy.

Now I have the opposite problem. Unlimited money but no time. There are also demos and reviews available for just about any game. I would much prefer to support the company that made the game by paying retail for it and knowing I have a clean, working copy. We also now have blockbuster where you can rent a game for $5.

While bittorrent will get you a few games, it will take forever, you will constantly be getting viruses and after your download to upload ratio becomes shit, you will get cut off.

Anyway, I can't imagine a scenario where I would want to pirate now, but I am very curious what is motivating you.

You can go to prison for pirating. So ask yourself, is it worth being the salad tosser for free games? Man I hope I never go to prison, even innocent people get locked up.

@ sef: Yeah it seems like the older versions are the better ones since the newer versions apparently track what you are downloading and might report you... I gotta think you would have to download an obscene amount of data to get reported though.

@ asta: well hrm I guess I didn't really give it a whole lotta thought.. but I guess I just don't like to pay for something if I can get it free. Reading forums on and about torrents and talking to some friends, they do seem to be kinda virus filled and not very great quality so maybe I'll have to actually spend my own money on stuff I want

@ ploid: lolprison! not all that worried about getting sent to the pen for downloading maybe 20 things tops, I live in Canada and I seriously doubt I would ever get sent up for hard time over pirating shitty old software/movies... brb looking up Canada's piracy laws!
