How to clean out my pc from identity theft programs?

I just ordered a couple of things off of amazon and during the whole process I felt naked and as if I was picking up soap in a prison shower. How do you guys make sure FFXI id hack like tools aren't on your pc when you use your credit card and identity theft bait information to buy things on the internet. After the bike fraud thing I'm even more paranoid about the internet but I can't avoid using it. Maybe I should sign up for that identity theft protection insurance that run those ads on the tv.

step 1. turn off pc
step 2. go to store
step 3. pay in cash

other than that you'd wanna go with norton and standard stuff to protect yourself I guess, but there's always the risk and that can get pricey. what i do is use 1 card for anything online only and got the security protection thing that goes with it and check it pretty frequently to make sure there's nothing that's not supposed to be there.
