Authorities in Redondo Beach California are investigating what killed millions of fish over the last day at King Harbor Marina.
Fish, including anchovies, sardines and mackerel were floating lifeless in Basins 1 and 2 of the north side of King Harbor Marina.
Redondo Beach officials said initial assessments suggest oxygen depletion in the King Harbor basins caused the massive fish die-off.
City Manager Bill Workman said city officials with the help of marine experts would help determine if there was any environmental issue involved. Tests are now being performed on the water as officials begin removing the dead fish, which city officials estimated to be in the millions.
Rain wasn’t the only thing falling into the Bay yesterday. Some of the 10,000 red balloons released in San Francisco as part of a publicity stunt by a video game company began dropping into the Bay to the disbelief of environmentalists. The company, THQ, said the balloons were meant to simulate part of its warfare game. The EPA, Coast Guard, and city of San Francisco are investigating the incident.
Apparently they were SUPER concerned for a while because the tsunami went so far inland that it threatened a nuclear power plant; what a fkn daymare that woulda been.
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams-
Lies are a funny thing,
they slip through your fingertips because
they never happened to you.
Yeah they are currently talking about that now on the news. Saying the Japanese are very careful about their nuclear programs and may have been focusing on that a bit too much during this whole thing. So far so good it seems. The wife of a man who survived the flooding so far was on CNN talking about his experience in the nuclear plant as buildings and stuff floated by.
This damage is insane, just seem so unreal. I'd so gear up and help them if i was needed somehow. The best I'll be able to do is donate. Kinda reminds me of a much larger Katrina. They won't have power and they will need rescuing for days. It's freezing there right now, for katrina it was hot. With the water and stuff, hypothermia can easily set in. This is all too much. The US is sending some naval warships loaded with helicopters, food, amphibious vehicles and more aid that may be needed. The troops that were stationed in japan are all accounted for and could provide some good help.
