but reformatting means you have to rebuy windows 8D so that's kind of a turnoff from reinstalling... unless you have a dell mebe you still has a factory restore CD that you can reinstall from, otherwise i doubt your old windows id will work~

As far as a guide goes...no need. If you bought your computer then you need to go to their site and root around...I just downloaded one from Acer (their site sucks balls btw) and it was actually pretty difficult to find. Had to go to the EU site and get it from there.
It should just be an actual application you download...run the .exe file and it'll give you a window with some buttons..."backup bios" "flash bios" and one that does both. Or something similar to that. And you just backup/flash it and the computer restarts and you're good to go.

Only reason I suggest looking at bios updates is cause reformatting doesn't matter if the bios is incompatible/has errors with the OS/apps youre gonna put right back on there once you format. Shooting yourself in the foot as far as time goes then....

If you want I can look for a bios update if you got the name of your computer. Even if you built it the name of the MB manufacturer should be ok.

Turns out my motherboard was fried. How? Not sure, it was really old though. Good news is that my mom is chipping in (see: paying for) and getting me a new one, and some ram. Plus, getting a disc slider so I can play Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, fkn thing taking forever to come in the mail though.

Overall I'm prty happy though, maybe my computer will be able to actually run fraps now so I can tape all the pwn shit I do that you guys never see. >o

So I should be back... Thursdayish? MAYBE tomorrow.

Going through withdrawal, I actually had a FFXI dream last night.

I dreamed that we claimed Cerb and were fighting, and I hit ALT+G just for fun (or maybe minor OCD, lol!). You old school PC players remember that alt+G used to be CFH (conveniently placed next to alt+H, which is rest, lol). But then as Cerb's name turned orange, I remember that I was on a new computer and had not taken out the Alt+G hotkey (I think they patched this a bit ago, but my dream failed to take this into account. I FAIL IN THE DREAM WORLD.) We killed it anyway and Algol dropped, but it wouldn't let me lot (probably because of the CFH).

I woke up in a cold sweat.


Anyway though, my mom bought a new computer and decided she'd rather use it instead of me. God damnit. I didn't really care though since she was giving me her old one which she insisted was slightly better than my fried one.

But it's not. For some reason the video card isn't working, keep getting some BS. Too lazy to try and fix it anymore.

So my mom agreed to let me install FFXI on the new computer, but not to let me bring it into my room (no more fapping to elvaan f :<). It's updating right now for the second time. The first time it disconnected after about 2 hours of downloading, lol!

So I've been trying to get this to work all day, hopefully I can hop on ffxi tomorrow assuming something doesn't go horribly wrong with the update OR for some reason the new computer can't run it. But I probably won't be able to do much, like Dynamis, because I have a 12 page Physics report to write, lol.
