Ya know the whole rl >>> ffxi thing? Well, I think that's fuckin' dumb. Although, I understand the logic, I disagree with it on a moral, more selfish level. Not to a point where I wanna quit my job, leave school, uppercut my wife and have sex with a cheap hooker or her best friend, whichever is readily available. but to a point where I question myself on why I stopped doing the one thing outside of work/family/mastubation that brought me true gratification, even if it meant doing absolutley nothing but sitting in whitegate listening to ls chat.

I'm 22, I should be out having fun doing shit that I enjoy. I consider ffxi a hobby of sorts. I'm not sure about others, but ffxi is also a crutch, a place where I can dismiss rl problems and do shit with people who for the moment fill in my lack of interpersonal relationships.

I don't collect boat models, I don't have a D&D crew or w/e the fuck they call themselves, I have no other hobby other then collecting old vivyls. Nor do I hang out with friends every weekend like they ask me toon, I DON'T DO SHIT!!!!

Since late may I've been working 12hr shifts 3 days a week, which leaves me little to no time during peak ls event times to do anything. On the days I could make an event I come home anxious, wishing to get on for a few hrs and relax. Upon entering I greet my family with hugs and kisses just to get the sappy shit out of the way. I ask my wife how's her day been even though I know the answer. It's been the same since late may when she finished school. Then I take 1-2hrs and read to domenic or we draw, or w/e, so my wife can have her personal time.. As soon as that's done, I consider the time left in the day my time. I sit down in the livingroom and grab the xbox controller and log into ffxi. Before I can even get to the log in screen I hear this familiar voice saying "so, uhh, your gonna play ffxi the rest of the night", as much as I would love to say "YES BITCH, ALLL NIGHT HAHAHA!!!!!" I quietly respond "no, just checking the ah real quick, why, you need anything?" She responds "just wondering". It is at that exact time in which I realize the rest of my day will be filled with boring, humorless chatter with the women of my dreams.

Please dismiss this as glorified man-bitching, at its worst that's all it is. This rash of emotion started this morning when interviewing an 11 year old with obsessive defiant disorder(ODD) who proceeded to tell me how much of an asshole I am and told me my wife probably cheats on me 'cause I study psychology LOL!!!!!!

Anyway, I'll be playing again on a consistant basis soon, can't wait. By the way, I would never uppercut my wife. At the time of writing this I had this awesome vivid image of the afformentioned events and uppercutting her seemed to stroll it' way into there. /rant off

a few years ago my husband played Socom, having to listen to 1 sided conversations and him spending lots of time on said game got a bit annoying. Then he set up a speaker system, now i got to hear all the conversations over comms but never participate in the game itself. After a while this too became somewhat annoying so I commented about him spending more time on game rather than with me (the usual wife stuff, you know how it is) Then i got "ninjar'd"
"Here love grab the controller a sec shoot the enemy or hide knp" and off he went to do w/e explaining to his team i was in control, this happened more and more often until I got into said game.
Then I was hooked, I started having these conversations with the guys, I got a clan invite I met new peeps!
Following that there was a young guy going by the name bVo15 who was an awesome marksman but kept going AFK for another game he played, and I found out this game was FFXI, I sharp decided to find out what was so good to keep my star player from 100% focus and thus i was introduced to FFXI via Altore aka bVo15 and then the tables were turned!
Hubby was "you're playing on that damn game all the time blah blah blah" so i challenged him to play that 'girly' game which he bought copy and was "ninjar'd" himself :>

So
1, ask her to cover for you now and again
2, make it slowly more often till she's wanting more
3, "ninjar" buy her a copy! and she'll be hooked

I got Ninjar'd too. Kelis bro bought the game and said "womg you should play" so Keli bought the game.
a few months later I was sick of *clickclickclick* while watching the back of his head and did the normal 'wife crap' (altho, technically, still just a G/F) Anywhoo, kid get super sick and I have to stay home with him a week while he recuperates. I am no Betty Crocker by any means and went plum stir crazy so I called Keli at work and said "how do I do this" and he made me play a mule (Kelo - TaruF) so I wouldnt kill his main, I did, as MNK, and when he got home I wouldnt give the controls up. That w/end, much angry with me, we bought me my own copy XD

He got jealous of any time I spent at the computer really quickly though, if he caught me on it when he got home he'd shout and scream because I was supposed to be the attentive wife-thing. Wow this is how I got into FFXI also. People got me wondering about socom 2 after I finally got my PS2 online with only Need for Speed Underground to play online. So after getting hooked in Socom2, ffxi with the HDD hit and my clan was wondering if we were going to get the HDD for the new socom maps. So most of them got the hdd and tested out FFXI and some got hooked. My star players started to stay on FFXI a lot (maybe to get good use out of the free 1 month subscription). So with AceOfVssey, Bookey, Nos (sniper out of this world), wario64, etc. posting pictures of their ffxi adventures and lots of quad trains I felt the need to join the fun. I'd at least get the HDD out of it and stay up to date for when the new maps are out for the HDD. Big mistake, I ended up playing ffxi more than socom2.

There are a lot of ffxi players like us. If only socom didn't have HDD support ; ; I wish it didn't actually. FFXI took a lot out of me.
