When I get to obtain a copy via disk or dl I will be a casual player, no end game mallarcy for me, just something to relax to once the family is sorted and I can enjoy some wind down time :cat:

I'm doing fine BC, will be better though once I get a copy of 14 ;) (although after listening to hubby rant on last night in some dungeon he has to complete to progress in some quest chain I did have second thoughts but I'm sure I can work throught that)

Things are more complicated in this game. You have to constantly move to prevent getting hit by deadly attacks, and they throw those attacks out like candy. Imagine Nidhogg with a pickup group, where wings was a aoe indicated by a big red circle. If you don't move your healer will have to wast global cool down casting on keeping your hp up. The cure cast is about 1-2 seconds not instant, and the whm will have to make sure they aren't caught in another AOE circle during the cast. Most likely this will create chaos and a lot of death in pick up groups. That's probably why he was upset, some party member could have been screwing everyone up. This game seem to make friends enemies (like in the beginning of the second video I posted lol. Lot of arguing).

Exhibit A-32
Garuda Hard with a skilled team working together and winning

Garuda Hard with some PUG members skip ahead in this vid. Guys spent all day trying to beat it (hard to find a Garuda Hard on youtube with a pug. Usually vids are to brag on youtube)

The fights in this game are fantastic. I reached 50 BLM earlier this week and have been happily spamming dungeons (Ifrit hard especially. The weapon refuses to drop for me...). I also had fun with the Gorgimera (Khimaira-esque dickface, even comes with his own Fullmination style move) Fate which ended up with me kite-tanking it for a good 5 minutes.

The weakest part of this game is the grind, imo.

How bad were you guy's early Garuda Hard fights? The part where she throws tornadoes all over the place looks intimidating. Also I saw a stream of a guy that farmed Ifrit Hard for days and nearly went insane trying to get the bow to drop. Near the end he fought while running in a circle.

Throw up another 5 iffy kills, lotted a 2 on the PLM against another DRG.
Havent been able to kill Garuda yet, only tried a couple times, couldnt get past tornado part, we never tried again.

Garuda is just about being able to dps it down fast enough. Ifrit you can fight naked and win easy.
In 1.0 anyways. I only got garuda claws for my low lvl mnk out of 20ish wins :/

Kinda want to see how hard Titan is, and fate stuff sounds kind of interesting

I've heard that Titan is a nightmare. I've only ever gotten Garuda down to the last phase, where she seals off all but a small portion of the map in the middle. Ifrit is a piss easy fight, but easy to screw up. Like ye olde Cerberus, fail to stun one move and you can get wiped.

I'm actually just spamming dungeons now to get Tomestones for Darklight gear.

The thing about titan is that he aoe's the whole battlefield so having two weakend people will be hard to keep them alive during that. People just start over if 2 people die, they don't bother raising people usually. Maybe now they give them stoneskin and other techniques for the aoe, but the aoe seem to be a constant thing. It seems like a nightmare to deal with for a whitemage, and pick up group. The angry Nidhogg wing spam seems like a apt description.

Just defeated Garuda and tried Titan once. Just once. We wiped once because a bunch of us were new and the tank rage quit.

Garuda was intense.

It's incredibly frustrating to do shit with PUGs, but I don't have much of a choice at my end. That said, I have been trying Titan all day long. The best I've ever gotten was a wipe immediately after we destroyed the heart.

People need a lot of up to date gear for titan. After knowing his routines and the strategy he's not bad if everyone has good enough stats to dd, heal, and take damage well enough. Gear checks, something wow does I hear.
