Which, what we should all do now, is make two entirely different sets of armor. One that is for straight DD/tank and one that is straight MF. Get drops, change gear, identify, profit.

I coulda sworn I remember someone saying that drop power is determined at time of drop though?

That's what they say, which is why people want MF gear changing nerfed. Also people buying unidentified should die down. They don't know if people got the drop with no MF or what.

Magic Find
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/game/guide/i ... magic-find

Finding more and better magic items is critical to overcoming challenges and defeating enemies in Diablo III, particularly on higher difficulties. Magic find is a unique item property that can help you drastically improve your haul. It is tracked in the Inventory menu (Inventory > Details > Adventure).

But what does that really mean?

Magic find affects the quality of items you acquire from killing enemies (but not treasure chests, vases, weapon racks, or other environmental objects). It doesn’t give you a chance to get more items on a given kill – instead, it increases the chance that an item you find will be magical, and more potent than it would be otherwise.

When a monster drops an item, Diablo III randomly determines the item’s quality from a chart that includes item quality and the number of affixes present. The game randomly "rolls" on each property in the chart to determine which affixes your item will get. Your magic find score is applied as a bonus to these rolls.

For example, if a monster has a 4% chance to drop a 6-affix rare item and you have +50% magic find, it now has a 6% chance to drop that item.

Item quality is checked in the following order:

Legendary
6-affix rare
5-affix rare
4-affix rare
2-affix rare
1-affix rare
magic item

Using the above example, when your roll ‘misses’ a higher-level item quality, the item generator proceeds to the next lowest item quality in the chain (in this case, checking to see if you got a 6-affix rare, then checking for a 5-affix rare, and so on). Your magic find bonus applies to each roll. If the same monster has a 10% chance to drop a 5-affix rare item and you have 50% magic find, you now have a 15% chance to get a 5-affix rare item.

In a group, all players' magic find bonuses are averaged. So, if you’re in a four person group where two players each have +20% magic find and the other two players have none, all four players will effectively have +10% to magic find.

Blizzard: Play solo, farm act1 only, stack as much MF as you can.

Too bad the game disconnects you when you afk too long solo. I like the pause feature. My NV lasts as long as I don't get kicked for afk.

2 billion hp?? more like 2 billion np

so it affects the affix amount for sure; when they say quality you think it's modifying whether you get let's say a 50-100 dex roll or a 150-200 one also?
do you think they have combos that are increasingly hard to find all on one; like if you get dex and vit and res all on a helm, getting a socket and crit chance % chance drop lower than normal in terms of 'rolling' the next stat, like those lotto tickets that give you 2 buckets of gold but that 3rd one never shows up?

Lvl 60 buff you get for killing elite and champion packs. Gives you a bonus to magic find and gold find. Stacks 5 times for a total of 75%(?).

Just the number of affixes it seem. To get a 300 vit body you need two affixes with vit. One caps at 200 vit, and the other with another affix (100str + 100vit for example). That's what people are saying on the forums. Stuff like slot is a affix. Rings and amulets are the rares that can have 1 affix.

HOLY CRAP!

Quote:
1. open chat window and input any 2 bytes character (I'm use ㅇ character)
2. link any UNID'd item
3. click between 2 bytes charater and linked item name
4. press delete key 2 or 3 times then you can see the item code
(do not press enter key this step. it may crash D3 client)
5. press ctrl+a then press ctrl+x and then ctrl+v in text editor like notepad

you get a code like this.
⻈Item:2,1565456761:-146123031:1055553278,1055553278,1055553278,1176553157:-1:0:-1:-1:-1:8:523:523:0:0:6:0:-1144451098:|h[가시 투구]|h

then you can know rare quality of UNID'd item now.
0:0:6:0 - 4-affix rare
0:0:7:0 - 5-affix rare
0:0:8:0 - 6-affix rare

next, this item code has 3 different type.

1. UNID'd code ingame
|HItem:2,1565456761:-146123031:1055553278,1055553278,1055553278,1176553157:-1:0:-1:-1:-1:8:523:523:0:0:6:0:-1144451098:|h[가시 투구]|h

2. UNID'd code in lobby
|HItem:2,1565456761:-146123031:1273837477,-2012337763,1951515674,-334812892:-1:0:130756:9:8:8:523:523:0:0:6:0:-648496672:|h[가시 투구]|h

3. ID'd code
|HItem:2,1565456761:-146123031:-334812892,1951515674,-2012337763,1273837477:-1:0:130756:9:8:9:523:523:0:0:6:0:1941137377:|h[가시 투구]|h

did you see that? UNID'd code in lobby and ID'd code are perfectly same except final number.
final number used for integrity check of item code and item ID'd state I guess.
so you can link and get exactly stats from UNID'd before ID'd if you discover formula of final number.

Also someone made a parser:
http://www.forceprojectx.com/service...m-affix-parser

Paste code in.. bam tells you what range affixes item rolled. All without IDing lol

So sell off your crap unid items VD! People will probably stop buying unid items now though. No reason to go through all this if you don't sell unid items, though this could help you see if your MF gear is working I guess. Or if it's worth having that 1 extra % of MF at the cost of survivability.

So a D2 player and a D3 player walk into a bar, after four or five jagerbombs they start talking about their in game acolades, conversation as follows:

D2 player: So I was rushing this druid through hell for his hell forge, during the rush I had a windforce drop!

D3 player: No kidding? I had a windforce drop for me yesterday too?! small world, let me buy you a shot

D2 player: thanks! I'm getting kind of tipsy, check out these stats: http://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Windforce

D3 player: check mine out
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/windforce,
See? That's why I don't think I'd like Diablo 2. They didn't even put enough care into it to make proper tooltips.

D2 player: what do you mean?

D3 player: Well look at your windforce, they didn't even include what percentage chance of knockback it has!

D2 player: Chance to knockback? What chance? It just knocks the monsters back

D3 player: Like all the time?

D2 player: well it doesn't work on bosses, but in general yeah.

D3 player: The windforce I got rolled kind of low so I won't be able to get much for it on the auction house

D2 player: Rolled low? what do you mean?

D3 player: Well it has the chance to to go from 112-224 minimum damage and 149-298 maximum damage, Mine rolled low so it only has 603 dps.

D2 player: You mean on top of the RNG of getting it to drop, you have RNG on all the stats on it? That sounds like a frustrating system

D3 player: It's not that bad. I mean I found the windforce, but I already have a much better bow

D2 player: I heard they didn't implement runewords, what's better than the windforce?

D3 player: I found this magic bow with 1100 dps and it boosts my damage a lot more than that windforce

D2 player: Wait a second, A blue bow is better in D3 than the best bow from the previous games barring runewords?

D3 player: Yeah, but it's only that way becuase of how items work now, all your damaging abilities are tied to your weapon dps and your main stat.

D2 player: Main stat?

D3 player: Yeah, Monks and Demon Hunters use dexterity, Wizards and witch doctors use int, and barbarians use strength as their main stat

D2 player: Oh, okay. So you look for gear with your primary stat on it? That shouldn't be too hard to find

D3 player: Well, it's pretty hard. You have to look for gear with your primary stat, vitality, all resists, crit, and crit damage

D2 player: Wow, that's a lot of stuff to look for on gear, you have to hope all those stats are on a piece of gear that drops then on top of that hope that those stats roll decent numbers? Talk about getting some rng in your rng.

D3 player: It's not like it's hard to find, thanks to the auction house I can spend real money for my gear so I don't have to grind that stuff out, speaking of which I'm a little strapped for cash, can you get the next round?

D2 player: I would but I really have to get going. My friend in game is going to grush this strafe zon for me and in turn I'll take him on some cow runs. It's funny hearing all their moos when you completely mow then down with multi shot, 60 cows on screen? boom none! I'll buy you a drink though.

D3 player: Sigh, I'll take a whiskey. Make it a triple

----------------
Ok some day this year I'll give D2 a try.

“God Mode” Exploit Found in Diablo III, Makes Players Invincible
Luke Plunkett

A loophole has reportedly been found in Diablo III that can, in effect, make you invincible. Which for a game that has a real-money auction house attached to it could be a bit of a problem.

While it only works for the Wizard class, there's apparently no restriction on which game mode (normal or harder) you use. The exploit renders a few effects inactive, but on the flipside, well, you'll be invulnerable.

A poster on the Blizzard forums says to active the exploit, you need to do the following:

Step 1: Select Teleport - Fracture. Bind it to a key
Step 2: Select Archon, tested with Improved Archon
Step 3: Hover your mouse over or near your charcter
Step 4: Press Teleport
Step 5: QUICKLY(!) Press Archon

Note that, given the consequences of letting people run around without fear of dying while picking up items they can sell for actual money, Blizzard will likely be working super fast to get this fixed.

lol, http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/6147946525

just found and tried this aswell, you don't need improved archon, just fracture. Not going to mess with it for long, as I'd rather not get banned, not that it'll be likely they even watch a 54 wizzard in act 2 hell.

Part of me hopes I get banned for the less than 10 hours I got to use this. Banning would be the best way for me to move on from D3. I found one good amulet that was an improvement for my mnk dmg-wise (though I'll lose mf). Most fun I've had in D3 since getting to Inferno.

This game is a traveshamemockery.

People loved god mode, now reality sets in.

Quote:
God mode was the most fun I've had on here in weeks. The game felt social, we had a group of 4 wizards clearing act4 for laughs, it didn't matter one JUST got to inferno and didn't have dps, we just had fun, and rofl stomped act4, something that I'd never normally due to the cheap mechanics and lack of a reward over act3.

To anyone else that tried it... I think this illustrates whats wrong with Diablo 3, not only did I not find anyhting of value over my standard act1/2 runs but I also saw how the insane cheap mechanics of act3/4 are actually killing the game. I find so much conflicting statements from Jay Wilson Q&A sessions, for example:

"We didn't allow legendaries to spawn below your level because we got feedback it was a poor user experiance" (when asked on why low level legendaries dont drop like in d2)

Yet, they have no problem spoon feeding me level 52 weapons in act4 inferno.....

Anyway, its a shame they fixed it because not only did the game feel social, but I actually had fun.

For the record, I didn't even post a single thing on the AH, cause frankly... it was all crap.

Crazy life leech unscaled. Not invincible but nearly. Too fed up with the poor loot so I'm not even going to mess with it.
