I'll definitely be playing D3, like, the whole time I was growing up, the main game I'd play was D2, and I'd always go back to it every year just to fuck around. Any new hints on when its supposed to be coming out? Installing D2 now to fuck around on!

I watched it for the tournaments, and because everyone on the other forum was talking about it. I frequently watch Starcraft 2 matches hosted by people that know what they're talking about. I'll never play the game so I need someone that know how it's played to explain stuff that's going on to me. It's like football but a war.

So far things are way too easy. Though apparently things will pick up big time when you're out of the Normal mode (tutorial).

Things will make you cry in the higher levels/acts.

Never played 2, this beta is on easy mode so it's pretty much just a demo where you can figure out which class you like the most. As a dude that don't care for mouse and keyboard play I'm kinda hooked on my Monk already. I like it so far even though I'm mowing these low level monsters down over and over again.

What I'm really liking about this game is that there's loot, good loot, and I don't have to wait on some tier list to get a shot of it dropping. Everyone has their own drops so no one can steal your loot and gold. Or you don't have to distribute it depending on rank and such. So if you have a group like TG doing raids all the time you won't have to wait in line. Also NMs are random all over the place and they drop the best loot so you won't have to keep doing raid #205 fafnir/nidhogg over and over. You'll just be pleasantly surprised when you see OMGWHATTHE!!! nm as you do normal rounds of killing stuff.

Also "but ploid what do i do with the rare magical items I find that I dont need?" You craft with them. Magical items give you materials you need to craft some good stuff at the blacksmith. And when you craft that item (looks like AF to me) you get random magical attributes on the item (uh something like "Enhances Cover PLD af").

That was a photoshop cut paste job to show off my gear stats. It looks like this in game.

I finally got in this wave. 3 of us burned through the beta 3 times in a row tonight. I tried out the New Barb, Wizard, and Demon Hunter.

More than anything else, I'm amazed at how well the new team channeled the spirit of Diablo. It's absolutely a Diablo game in every sense of the word, playing it felt like playing Diablo. With the smaller party size and slower running speed, it felt a bit more like classic D1 and a bit less like D2, but it was definitely very Diablo-ish. One thing that Diablo has always nailed is the sheer pleasure of slaughtering hundreds of monsters very loudly and taking their stuff. I know of no game comparable to Diablo in the sheer fun category except the Sacred games, none of the other Diablo-alikes have ever captured the sheer joy of genociding demons the way Diablo has.

The difficulty level seems lower than I remember but they will probably tune it for the final game. The graphics are every bit as primitive as expected, the one thing which is a bit disappointing about D3. I hope Blizzard is planning a Very High texture resolution for the retail release. Besides that, it's gloomy and dark, bright effects go off when huge death skills are used, the usual monster bashing sound effects are well-realized, and Deckard Cain still sounds like Deckard Cain even though he's like 1,466 years old now. It's Diablo. That's all you need to know, really.

Fun with monk
