Soooooooooooooooooooo... Full Morrigans Attire Set vs one Pimped Pre-Salvage Black Mage... Who wins?

So, what are the stat differences? The following figures are based on what you would gain/lose wearing the Morrigan Set over the Pimped Bretherin.

Head:
    * Defense -5
    * MP -10
    * Strength +4
    * Intelligance -1
    * Mind +4
    * Emnity +4
    * Accuracy +5
    * Magic Accuracy +5

Body:
    * Defense +2
    * Strength +8
    * Intelligance +8
    * Mind +8
    * Elemental Magic -6
    * Accuracy +5
    * Attack +5
    * "Magic Attack Bonus" -2
    * Adds "Refresh" effect

Hands:
    * Defense -3
    * HP +55
    * MP -30
    * "Magic Attack Bonus" -1
    * Accuracy +5
    * Attack +5
    * Magic Accuracy +5

Legs:
    * Defense -12
    * MP +25
    * Strength +9
    * Dexterity +6
    * Vitality +6
    * Agility +6
    * Intelligance +2
    * Mind +2
    * Charisma -10
    * Emnity +2

Feet:
    * Defense +7
    * MP +20
    * Strength +3
    * Mind +7
    * Emnity -2
    * Evasion -5
    * "Magic Attack Bonus" -2

Listed like that, the only good pieces seem to be Body and Legs, but when you factor the whole set as a total, you get this little lot...

Benefits:
    * HP +55
    * MP +5
    * Strength +24
    * Vitality +6
    * Dexterity +6
    * Agility +6
    * Intelligance +9
    * Mind +21
    * Accuracy +15
    * Attack +10
    * Magic Accuracy +10
    * Adds "Refresh" Effect

Downside:
    * Defense -11
    * Charisma -10
    * Emnity +4
    * "Magic Attack Bonus" -5
    * Elemental Magic -6
    * Evasion -5

So for one, You are looking at Elemental Magic -6 vs Magic Accuracy +10 ... Somehow, I think the Accuracy will win. Emnity +4 can be countered with Merits (Not that you actually gain +4 Emnity on your gear, but you will have 4 less Emnity down points from the Morrigan Set). lolCharisma for Blm/Rdm/Blu. You shouldn't really be getting hit, so Defense -11 is ok to deal with, but the Evasion -5 kinda sucks too.

However, the big bastard comes with "Magic Attack Bonus" -5 vs Intelligance +9 ... Now, we all know that INT+9 does not equal MAB+5, but it is extremely close. With this, you are probably looking at -10 dmg in your nukes compared to the Uberly pimped Blm (But let's face it, not everyone has a Genie or Z.Mitts +1, which puts it at MAB+3 vs INT+9). But the entire set adds a Magic Attack Bonus, and with the relative difficulty that getting the entire set is, I'm pretty sure that it will be something like "Magic Attack Bonus" +10.

Welp, there's only one thing for it... I must get all 5 items and test the damage yo~

Bc has, been, and always ill be > u.

Gear doesn't make a player, it's all about skillz.

Chances are, Pimpset VS Morrigan's isn't what you should test.
I highly doubt that full Morrigans' MAB enhancement will overshadow what you could assemble if you mixed the items up.

My best bet for the most net yield Magic Burst Damage would be

Jupiter's Staff - DMG+15%
Republic Circlet - MAB+5
Morrigan's Robe - INT+8 MAB+5
Gleeman's Cape - INT+5
Uggalepih Pendant - MAB+8
Zenith Mitts +1 - MAB+6
Rairin Obi - DMG+30%
Sorcerer's Tonban - DMG+5% INT+3
Spirit Lantern - MAB+20~
Static Earring - DMG+5%
Novio Earring - MAB+7
Sorcerer's Ring - MAB+10
Tamas Ring - INT+5
Yigit Crackows - MAB+2 INT+3

DMG+~55% MAB+63 INT+24

In your own nation's control, with Signet, Less than 50% MP, Less than 75% Base HP, Lightningsday, and Double Lightning weather. (lol)

But taking the highly situational gear and scenarios out of the equation, I'd say

Jupiter's Staff - DMG+15%
Demon's Helm +1 - INT+6
Morrigan's Robe - INT+8 MAB+5
Gleeman's Cape - INT+5
Uggalepih Pendant - MAB+8
Zenith Mitts +1 - MAB+6
Sorcerer's Belt - INT+6
Valkyrie? Trews - MAB+5
Spirit Lantern - MAB+20~
Moldavite Earring - MAB+5
Novio Earring - MAB+7
Sorcerer's Ring - MAB+10
Tamas Ring - INT+5
Yigit Crackows - INT+3 MAB+2

DMG+15% MAB+68 INT+33

Will beat the shit out of anything else in the game.

Reason I didn't include them is because that Weapon/Ranged/Neck/Ears/Rings/Back/Waist would be the same on both setups, because sets only really come in the form of Head/Body/Hands/Legs/Feet.

Also, lol@your situational list... I mean, how often is that gonna happen?

Though INT is static damage and MAB Is relative to how much damage you actually output, as is the whole "Day effects Damage" items, and Static, it's totally dependant on how you are setup as to what the best combination would be.

It's 3:53am... I need sleep. :/

It's exactly the same as Accuracy, except where you look at If you will hit or not, this looks at if it will resist or not. So it's equal to 11 Elemental Magic points, 11 Enfeebling Magic Points, 11 Dark Magic Points...

But yeah, Aureole's are totally worthless.

not really... thing is the jobs that can use most Macc probably dont need it as much, so its better for them to replace it with different equipment... ie a rdm probably has little use for it when enfeebling, cause putting mnd in place would be a better idea.. even if it takes 2 tries to land a para or a slow (for most HNM anyways.. some of them need to stack on +skill gear, and then M.acc would come after +enfeebling)

on the other hand... give M.acc to a whm, a job who's enfeebling skill is low to begin with, and watch enfeebles stick with much more consistancy

rdm in this case would probably stack as much M.acc gear on for drain/aspir spells too (after +drk gear)

but in the case where you can get +stat and M.acc... the choice is clear

my guess is the same as aemo's regarding the set bonus.. i could see +10MAB being reasonable.. and that would definately push this set over the top on other combination of gear for non-MB nuking

Sorry, but macc automatically makes me think of Wise gear, lol.

fyi, macc gear has existed a while now, yet nobody stacks it ;o
It's not *bad* to have it, it's just that most other stats are more valuable.

Actually, looking at it, it says "Enhances 'Magic Attack Bonus'", so perhaps it doesn't add static MAB, but actually increases the MAB damage output that you already have, so it would enhance Novio, Moldavite, Robe, Cuffs, Pendant ... Hmmm ...

actually the only gear that has m.acc on it that whm can wear is nashira (ok goliard too, but thats even a worse set), and those pieces are not that easily obtained for many...

also there is definately not as much m.acc gear as there is acc gear, and its not really available in large quantities on any single piece to out perform the existing pieces like mentioned... give me a +10 m.acc ring / necklace / belt / cape then we'd be going somewhere

and ya.. lolwise gear.. but again, the reason its 'lol' is because m.acc was first introduced on this set, and the job that can use it doesnt even really need it

back to aemora's discussion.. the arguement is 6 ele skill vs 9 m.acc ... its not difficult to see which will out perform

Yet absolutely every mage forum says macc is shit, go figure.

I think what he's trying to say is that, when you have an A+ skill, like a BLMs' elemental magic, Mag. Acc+ sucks ass compared to the same addition of Elemental Mag Skill+

300 Elemental + 10 Magic Acc =~ 305 Elemental
300 Elemental + 10 Elemental = 310 Elemental

230 Enfeebling + 10 Magic Acc =~ 240~ Enfeebling
230 Enfeebling + 10 Enfeebling =~ 240 Enfeebling

Or something.

All in all, lolmagacc.

what about a gramary cape?

That has been around since cop was released.

I would use macc on nin for hnms for a better chance of my enfeebles landing and keeping shitty rdm enfeebles off.

just get me a koga sarashi instead and we will call it even.

In any case Kny, you are comapring 10 M.Acc to 6 Elem skill. So even by your calculations, they would still par out evenly.

But M.Acc doesn't just exist for Elemental Magic... It goes for Enfeebling (Sleep, Bind, Gravity, etc) too, and Dark magic (Good 'ol Stun/Aspir/Drain), so whilst Genie gives you 306 skill, Morrigan's will give you an 305~ skill, plus additions to ALL your other Magic, which IMO is pwn, because you could Merit Elemental magic, or be like me and NOT MERIT AT ALL!!!
