She was probably never going to sing as good as she used to. I don't think her old songs were bad at all (sis may be downplaying, WH was huge), though I guess it's like me saying I don't think metal music or country music is special. To me it's a shame her talents were wasted the way she wasted it. She had truck loads, the range in her singing and how she controlled it can't be denied. I wasn't a fan (not a fan of any musician/band/singer), I just remember her songs, and went through youtube.
Maria's voice couldn't keep up with Whitney's it seem. Christina is usually about that loud high pitch. Whitney could do it all. Sing master.
Also people post stuff like that on facebook all the time anonymity and all that, or trying to be witty. Whitney did good before she fell, she sang a lot of positive inspirational stuff from what I'm seeing and remember (didn't know she sang some stuff that I knew about). The position she was in seems great but it seems to do more harm than good.
Quote:
Fame is something that is bestowed upon you because of success. Success is something you have to chase,” he explains. “And once you’ve had success, you have to keep having it in order not to be a failure. In business, you can have one massive success that earns $50 million overnight, and that’s it. You’re successful. End of story. But in the music business, you have to keep on doing it. You have to constantly chase success. The fame you just get. I enjoy being famous, because I don’t have to do anything. I can just turn up at nice restaurants and people are like, ‘Oh, it’s Noel fucking Gallagher. Brilliant. Sit down.’ But success can ruin people, because you have to chase it, and that can drive you insane. You can get obsessed with the idea of a formula, and you start wondering, ‘Why did I sell 20 fucking million albums in less than two years during the ’90s, but now I can’t sell 20 million albums over the span of 10 years after the turn of the century?’ And it’s not like I sit around thinking about that, but it’s always there. And when you start really chasing success, you start to make mistakes, and that’s when things spin out of fucking control.
1) Is your attachment to the songs she sang and/or the memories you associate with them or the fact that she is the one who sang them?
I'm looking at it as a show of skills. Girl could sing and I'm impressed.2) If it is a personal attachment because of a memory/event associated with a song do you think her death is still "sad"?
I'm not really sad about her death, I just think she was too young, and really screwed up. Also she friggin blew her talent, no one else is really controlling their voice like she could. Waste3) Do you feel the world has lost a special someone or just another former star that pissed away their fortune and wound up dead a bit earlier than they otherwise would have had they been able to control themselves?
The world is searching for new singers all the time, but if they even find one they may have her doing Britney stuff and limit her abilities. Unless she just does opera and stick to low paying stuff. I hear Adele is a good singer, haven't listened to her much. Fever Pitch right? That sounded great, also that Korean girl that sung it that Sureaboutthis linked did it awesomely.
