They conveniently decided to drop this bombshell along with the news that after the next patch in December, which contains a new advanced class system (war, drg, pld, whm, etc..), they are going to start the billing cycle.
The crazy part is, that i've been playing for about 2 months now and am actually enjoying the game once again, I could probably see myself subscribing foolishly.

It looks like they took a lot of FFXI as the new concept art. Not a bad thing. LOL anyway.

I've been following this because a old FFXI friend plays it. They pretty much realized they should have made a new ffxi and are now trying to force FFXIV to be cool like the mechanics of FFXI.
One thing you can't deny is the fact that the game now looks pretty.

They have a level 45+ version of that fight that requires 8 people to kill. The game has finally become playable with a good amount of content to get you to 50, plus some end game. One of the main things 14 suffers from is lack of players; at least on my server.
I mean, you'll see a good amount of people in town, but for the most part a lot of people keep to themselves. You'll really want a LS in this game. That's pretty much been the source of most of my group exping/quests/events.
If you're a tad bit knowledgeable about exp spots and such, and decide to shout for members for something, I've been able to find people to group with. But I can see how it could be boring for new players.

Thinking more and more about buying this; building a new ivybridge PC very soon and I've been jonesing for FFXI or something like it -- the release of D3 might be a deterring factor, but idk if that will satiate me. Could someone playing nowadays sum up pros/cons?? (or if anyone is aware of a way to try this out; I tried to get in on the "welcome back" campaign but it seems like they dont recognize that I played during the beta/that doesnt count =< )
