k so....my mom and my bro's laptop both had something shitty happen to it today and I'm not sure if anyone can but I'm going to plead for help here anyway.

My connection is fine, obviously since I'm posting this in the same room as the other laptops. However, whenever I go to use IE (or Firefox) I'm not able to connect to the internet. Not google, yahoo, or this site. Whenever I try to open a site on my mom's comp it flickers between "Connecting" and "Internet Explorer cannot display this page." My brother's just doesn't even load anything when you type in the address. It pretty much does the same thing that my mom's was doing. Anyone who is able to halp I'd greatly appreciate it.

Do you have an IP Address on your laptop? If yes, can you ping 145.253.253.226 in a Dos Box?

I was able to ping google from the CMD window off of one of the laptops earlier...should I try that IP ping now too?

If you can ping google, try entering http://145.253.253.226 into your browser.

If you get my cool C64 graphics, its a problem with your DNS Server. Set it to a static address like 145.253.2.11, I wouldnt recommend this one though since its a german DNS :P

This line is beyond confusing then. If I get them, and I'm supposed to, then it shouldn't be a problem right? I'm not trying to be a dick about this, I really do want to fix this problem and I'm finding that it is harder than I had hoped. What should pop up if there is a problem? I assume nothing?

If you get a response from http://145.253.253.226, as in "the graphic", and no response from http://eden.gley.net, it is a DNS Problem. Because the first one doesn't need a DNS to connect while the second one does.
