Well today is the big day. I am defending my Thesis tonight from 7pm till midnight to pass a major milestone in my graduate education and my life. Wish my luck, I'm going to need it... getting questioned by 7 "rocket scientists" over the course of 4 hours (1 hour presentation, 4 hours questioning).

To give you an idea of their backgrounds...

1) Past Director of Goddard Space Flight Center and lead Apollo Capsule and LEM Designer
2) Director of SpaceHab, the leading science module provider for the shuttle
3) The inventor of the Cube Sat and designer of micropropulsion
4) Lead astrodynamist for the space shuttle program
5) A lead designer of the Atlas V EELV rocket
6) The Kennedy Space Center Flight surgeon for the space shuttle program
7) A leading physics doctorate from the CERN laboratory

So yeah... a room full of guys that know WAY more than me... so like I said, wish me luck!

My thesis is 290 pages of pure goodness, they better like it!

So for Friday, to celebrate, I plan on getting on FFXI for the first time in a long time. Anyone up to party hard? Maybe I can make it up you all for neglecting you for so long.

290 pages.... can you even read that in 60minutes?

290 pages/hour = 4.83 pages/minute

...and assuming 500 words/page (as an average) that's 2415 words/minute or 40.25 words/second which to me, seems a bit unrealistic!

Yeah... the presenting part was just an "overview" of the whole paper. Its amazing actually that I had a limit of 100 pages for the main text, and 200 pages for the appendix parts. Honestly, I needed more than the 100 pages and had to cut a lot of material in order to meet the set criteria. I'd post it here, but its about 40 megs with all the images and things in it, so until I have time to compress it a bit, you'll just have to dream!

Space trip will be sometime between 2010 - 2020, maybe. We shall see how the new program developes.

Presentation went fantastic tonight and they had very few questions in the end, which really surprised me. They all said I did extremly well and all my calcualtions were spot on!

Ok, bedtime now. Brain hurts. Hopefully you guys havent missed me to much! Oh, and for the new people I havent met yet... uh... I'm a crazy red haired whm Mithra who's generally fairly useless but good for a laugh!
