I can see the advantage of having items that are bound to you but also the disadvantage of that sucks. My brother plays starwars mmo and he says a lot of the items on that mmo are just like that as well. idk I think it sucks still lol

I probably won't get much playtime either. Download is going slow as hell and probably won't finish today, plus I'm working sunday.

I have a buddy coming over to put Windows on wifeys Mac, so we will be able to run the game on max settings so that's pretty dope. Ps3 is more just to relax in bed and play but still it's nice to have. I really hope it's a stable 30 FPS or at least mid-20's consistently.

So.... Is this game like ff11?? If so, I shall buy a ps3. I've been like a crackhead these past 9 months talking about how I miss ff11. I need a fix!

From the all of one hour I played it, and what I've read, its nothing like 11. The core is there but practically everything is different.

The game is actually closer to a WoW clone than it is to FFXI IMO.

I put in about an hour myself also. For some reason, I couldn't really get into it. The lack of voices for dialogue was a bit of a buzz kill and the fetch quests were so-so. I did like the changes to combat and the overall feel of the UI layout (no more sluggish feeling). 2.0 has way more polish but I feel it's lacking that "something" to make me stick around. Maybe it's too early to tell, we'll see.

I don't know how I feel, the combat just screams TP mash as opposed to XI's more strategy based fighting.

I agree. For the most part I was just spamming 1, but I also was only 10 and without a party. I did see potential for the more strategic XI type fights when I hit 10 on my Gladiator and got Flash. I also spent some time mining and crafting, as those were the main things I did in v1.0 and I think both have been improved, the crafting especially. While similar to v1.0, I think the crafting is a lot more streamlined while maintaining the "strategy" I think they were after in v1.0. You can actually create gear builds to augment your crafting abilities in order to focus on success or quality (and perhaps quantity, but I didn't get that far). Also, a number of the recipes are already listed when you go to craft (perhaps all) so you don't need to search the web to figure out what to make to level up or what ingredients you need. I don't know how sub-crafts will factor in though. I remember in v1.0 some mid-level recipes required numerous sub-crafts which made leveling a bitch.

My main problem with the first version was serious lag which made combat rather difficult. I had no problems with lag during this beta. All in all, I'm not sold yet but I also haven't been deterred, so I'll keep my eyes on this a little longer.

The forums are fucking awful. The shit people complain about drives me fucking insane.
Reminds me 100% of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsOWGG2p1FQ

People are complaining the battle system is too slow...I think it's way too fast. It's just constant spam.

That massive thread about gay marriage was just a gold mine of hilarity. I don't know if it still exists, though.

:hijack: There may be some old faces returning to join you guys when the open beta starts (or if I ever get a beta invite beforehand). Looking forward to seeing you guys again after such a long time :P

I'm honestly not surprised. Let's just say that this is more or less the first time since I've quit FFXI that I've had any free time haha. Sorry for not keeping in touch!

Hopefully I'll get a beta key sometime soon and then I'll be able to see you all in game.

Who is Dee Double Ewe, I tried to figure it out but I got nothing. I will delete this post after I'm told and proceed to pretend I knew who it was all along.

Oh wait, is that spelling D W? Darkwarrior you idiot. Way to confuse people.
