At least you live near the most essential thing, Tim Hortons.
Also, you don't go to jail for driving without a license, but the car gets towed and you still take it in the ass, just with fines. The "other" bills include the car being towed, getting your car out of impound, and then the actual impound bill, which usually includes parking! Go figure.

Got a parking ticket, my first, yesterday for parking in a completely legal spot. Ticket said "access ramp/curb cut" but there was no curb to cut and I wasn't on the sidewalk. The alleged "access ramp" is for a vacant building. I've parked there at least once a week for at least... 6 years?

Basically, there are no signs stating it is illegal to park there. FML

That sucks ;(

One time there was this garage fire behind my old apartment. Fire department knocks on our door at midnight telling me and my friend that we have to gtfo and they're like...btw, move your car outta the driveway, our fire truck needs access to the fire. Shortly afterward, they told us we could go back inside so naturally I fell asleep being that it was like 2 AM.

You guessed it, I got a parking ticket for that after 2 AM rule that I discussed earlier. I called the next day and basically was told that I'd have to dispute it in court. Too bad I woulda missed a day of work to go to the court date and actually would have cost me more to go fight the ticket even if I had won (which I would have).

I hate it.

I got a parking ticket once. In downtown halifax you can't park on the streets during the winter, which is retarded. I parked at a superstore ( hours after closing), and it wasn't snowing (reason for no parking on the streets), yet I got a ticket for it. Was pissed.

You both would have won if you went to cout except MrD cause thats considered private property.
Should have parked at Timmies, they usually don't care about that crap, plus it seems like you just work the night shift.

I also had my car towed in Boston once. Parked on the side of the street, they have alternate side parking dependent on the time of day. Turns out 12:00 AM on Monday is midnight on Sunday. Cost me $120 for the tow, $50/day for the impound parking spot (even after 20 minutes it's still a day, of course) and then the ticket itself. Just over $250 ;[

There is night shift at the superstore, the thing that pissed me off even more is the fact I worked for that company at the time.

In halifax there's 2 place's to park that isn't on the street, if you're going downtown. One is the casino, to park there for the night is like $30+, or a private parking place that would be even more. The city is so poorly built its not even funny.

Just say a black guy stole your car and wanted to ruin your good name by getting you a parking ticket.
The court might give you money out of pity!

Got a letter today from the Parking Violations Bureau stating that "my explanation is considered an acceptable excuse and the charge is withdrawn."

Damn straight.

Gratz man

That night was awesome, remember when you parked near a no parking sign and threw the sign in the river when I pointed it out?
