You didn't link a version so... any studio version probably won't sound like just two people unless they really wanted it to. One person can make a full orchestra in the studio. I checked out "the official video" and it doesn't "sound" like two people... but thats the power of studio magic, with overdubbing, multi-tracking and chorus effects.
That being said... i'm not at all surprised its just two people. All i'm hearing is vocals, drums, two or so guitar lines. When they did Letterman they added a keyboards/tambo player and another guitarist.

I do like the song... despite my opening tirade. Sorry, I'm an asshole.
