It's not that I even care about the money, it's just an eyesore on my credit card bill every month.

So is this game like a revamped version of ffxi? I hope so cause I kinda miss wasting my life away in ffxi...

From what I've read it's like WoW with FF elements.
Dynamic questing system to level up to the cap but all FF'y.
Someone who's actually played feel free to correct me but that's how I've read it.
For what it's worth I played WoW for like..a month and thought their leveling system was awesome because it was entirely solo, had you explore a large part of the world and when all was said and done you were done leveling and learned everything you needed to learn.

Ya, battles does feel more WoW-ish. Specifically, like how Rogue was back when Energy was regenerated in chunks. Other than that, idk. It was so laggy I just stopped playing.
The next phase starts tomorrow. Hopefully I'll actually get to play something then.

Most I've seen you talk about a video game ever.

Pretty crazy that they do a beta for a game that's 4 years old or whatever.
Leads me little hope for awesome.

Nah it's completely new, that game 4 years ago failed horribly so they are trying to go round2 on it.
I too have little hope for awesome when it comes to 14, just the people posting on the board makes me not want to play.

Other than the core concept of it being FF'y, the races, and some of the world itself, it's basically brand new.

I played the beta for a day this past weekend, and while it did seem kind of fun at the start, i quickly grew bored with it.
I'm thinking it was the fact I was playing alone and that all the quests just seemed to be - go to point A and B, or slay 4 mobs etc. was a big factor..
I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt that later gameplay will improve as you will need to party up and start fighting more difficult enemies. The producer even mentioned that the first 15levels and quests/missions are more or less a snore fest to get new people to transition into the game and genre. He assured everyone that later levels and content will be a lot more challenging and rewarding. The monsters walking around the world are a little more than just filler and are not meant to provide a significant challenge nor be the focal point of the game.

From what I understand, wading through the terror that are beta forums, the dungeons are pretty decent and they only have up to lvl 30 or something.
Crystal tower and Bahamut's labyrinth are supposed to be the really challenging, phat lewtz places for "end game".
I do think they are going to make it fun to play, I just don't have the effort or time to put into a mmo anymore.
I think if I do play I will be a casual and gimp up parties and/or raids for laughs when the hards rage at my incompetence.

We could make a linkshell so we can all judge your incompetence.
We could call it "Sef and some other people"

oh god reading the forums is hilarious
the following are thread titles ALL BESIDE EACHOTHER, almost entirely in order one after another, instead of you know..reading other threads or posting in the ones already made
OMG WHERE IS MY CHARACTER
character getting deleted twice?
I have lost my character!?
Character is gone....
character wiped
Character data deleted after the last restart.
My Character is Gone?
Character Changed.
Character Loss / Server Full
[Character Creation/Selection] Deleted Character?
That's NOT my char!
character missing after disconnect
the rest of them are about the servers being down or full of other people
These are the most entitled assholes I've ever seen

Read through the beta manual, crafting looks confusing as high hell
