I'm horrible at this game. I forget which I had started but my stealth skills were
apparently woefully inadequate and I gave up. I think it was 3.

Started playing Peace Walker, looked gay so I bought MGS instead for 10 bucks.
So gunna do 3 (done) > 1 >2 > 4 and then go back to PW maybe.
PW looks multiplayer based and VD texted me saying "I don't play with smelly Canadynucks so fuck you guy."
True story.

Haha I bet VD's is true, the quote Sef posted don't sound like a VD PSN text, unless it was phone text. Interrupting people's rl stuff with game stuff is rude, so maybe he Hulked. When he's playing PS3 he's ready for game talk.

If I missed the Thermal Goggles am I el fucked-o? I read it's like impossible to do parts of the game without them, especially for new players.

MGS1? If so you'll probably cross them somewhere, I didn't know it was possible to miss them. Lot of lazer stuff, and claymore mine areas. They are very useful.

Yeah he's playing MGS1. They're not ESSENTIAL but they'd help out for some things; mined areas come to mind specifically. Also, I'm fairly sure you can get them in a different area. Have you been using your higher-level keycard for stuff.
Thermal Goggles

Description : Visualises heat source distribution a.k.a. allows you to see warm
objects.
How to Use : Equip to use.
Other Notes : Very useful - allows you to see guards, bosses, rats, wolves or
any enemies that are hard to see. You can also see the sensor
beams, dog tags, Claymore mines and allows you to see in the
