Not really shocking, every game recycles models and textures, it's just the SE didn't hide it that well. I honestly didn't notice it until I saw the clip, though.
Incidentally, I've been playing the game for hours every day, I have yet to hit surplus, so that's really not a deterrant unless you're some haijin powerleveler.

It does make me sad a little. FFXI had very charming zones, FFXIV does not. Copypasta makes it even worse.

Someone told me FFXI did a lot of copy paste as well so I tried to remember what was copied to look identical to another place. The only things i'm thinking up to now are side decorations like leech pools, or stairs going down in GC. Even in GC with things that should look the same, they'd decorate it with debris like broken areas, rocks, and holes. Maybe if everything was put side by side like this video (11 copy paste similarities? Maybe sky?) I'd be able to go, "ah haa!"

What makes it worse is when they rename "Chocobos" into "Horsebirds" in the japanese version, though this was changed in the end... to "Chocopo".

Garlaige Citadel is a bad example, it is a human built place, of course it would not look random. Does your appartment look random? Well my walls are all copypasta'd.

Doing this in natural environment is completely retarded.

Waiting untill ps3 release to pick this up, should be out of alpha by then

That picture is a lie, you can see a lot more copy paste than the picture highlight. I bet if someone were to circle all of the copy paste it would look like skittles all over the map. Might need to make new shapes when the colors run out.

Not really. Konschtat Highlands did not have much copypasta.

Though I wonder if the hills in FF14 are a copypasta FROM Konschtat Highlands.
