If Lutia didn't take over running of forums we wouldn't even have spam!
I don't think a whole lot of eden is planning to even buy/play 14 lol

It might be worse, it might be better, either way however, it'll be new and that is what counts. I hated Final Fantasy 13 (12 too), square has gone down hill for a while now, so I am wondering if it'll be worthy. I don't think i'll ever play FF11 again, even though I quit three years ago and probably have a bunch I can do in terms of content.

Anyway, perhaps I will at the very least give the first free month a try (PC games are cheap really). Most games don't last a month anyway, so it's money well spent aslong as I don't get suckered into paying for it monthly, don't like the idea of that anymore.

PS; O, hi Safer :D

ffXIV will either be awesome or complete shit. I'll likely buy it and play it for a couple months, I'll never actually get into it like ffxi though, I can't even play a game for more then an hour anymore without getting bored.

Out of interest (which I'm suprised I have) I searched around for some FF14 info;

http://news.dengeki.com/elem/000/000/250/250445/

It's in Japanese, but there is nothing of interest in the article other than the pictures (though there seems to be minor race backgrounds), there are 5 races each split up into 2 sub races per race, you can see the respective names in English in brackets.

I find it kinda weird that the races are essentially the same as in FF11, but in a way I guess they wish for people to move from FF11 to FF14 and feel comfortable, bit of a weird decision though that might backfire. Differences between the sub-races seems to be minor, but I am lead to believe they have different starting areas.

It seems like a facelift of FF11 currently.

they should have kept the names, or changed the look of the races imo

I've been doing some more reading;

It seems the game will be more 'soloable', but some enemies will be in 'parties' and obviously not soloable, party combat will be based around multiple people fighting multiple monsters at once. Also I think it might've been mentioned before, but partying will be mobile instead of stationary.

Something about there being no resting, using abilities or something instead. Important to conserve mana etc while fighting.

Something about objectives, quests probably like most other MMO's.

There is supposidedly only Fire, Ice, Lightning, Water, Earth and Wind attributes, no Light or Dark, unless it just has not been mentioned. Something also about setting your own attribute, what you're strong against through growth (you don't just select it at char creation) and you can become some sort of specialist against xxx element, possibly able to absorb all damage (might get healed by it, not sure).

There are 9 classes, and I'm getting the impression that things won't be as simple combat wise, melee users possibly having different types of weapon swings, thrust, swing、guard/parry etc (I'm not sure on this one).

Spear users being able to hit two monsters at once if they're lined up.

A funny and hard to believe fact that the tank class is actually meant to deal damage.

Mon.. pugilists have two stances (offence/defence), possibly a subtank.

The big DD class can gather strength and hit the ground for an AoE attack, the DD class is supposedly inaccurate however.

There is no black mage/red mage/white mage etc any more, just one class that seems to be a mold of various types of magic, for defence, offence and recovery, there is however a second mage class which seems to be kind of satanical, like a mix between a black mage and a dark knight with no melee.

That's all I could find out after a bit of looking, might be already known, but I thought i'd share.
