idk, getting fired from work to download something to mod your PSP seems pretty stupid to do D:

I doubt I'd get fired, plus if it was going through my Blackberry it wouldn't be detectable through our network even if it is for my work phone. I thought he meant that modding the PSP itself was going to be risky.

It is, it can corrupt all your data if you fuck it up.

Also, mod my PSP.
It's an original.

idk what "firmware" is supposed to do but I would assume that if i change it, there is always a risk that it would become incompatible w/ some of the games/accessories that could be released in the future <_> if not, I'm pretty sure sony would refuse to fix it if anything went wrong w/ it.

Well once you mod it you *CAN* go back to the original sony firmwares, but once you do, it's likely that you won't be able to install a Custom Firmware ever again. Custom Firmwares get updated, like Sony ones, so they'll end up being able to reproduce every single thing.
While it is true you might end up "bricking" (basicly fucking yourself over), if it's not a newer PSP, it is possible to bring it back to life using a modded Battery Pack called Pandora and a "Magic" Memory Stick (you would need to buy another battery + ms though, but worth it imo if it ends up bricking.)
