These things can be as big as a watermelon and grow in tall trees. Imagine having one fall on your head. The shell is thick and like a walnut. Overpowered tree.

Even stranger is what they taste like, a mix of walnut, vanilla and onion - and they smell like feet. Apparently, eating the fruit makes it harder for the body to break down alcohol.

Those things are called durians and are native to Southeast Asia (Hi!).

Is actually a pretty apt description IMO. It has an incredibly strong taste and smell, making it one of those love it or hate it things. I doubt the creamy texture it has helps it much. My entire extended family loves it. We (about 16 of us) can take down the amount shown in that picture within an evening, no problem.

After eating, we fill the empty cavities of the fruit with salt water and drink it and rinse our hands with water that runs off the outside of the shell. This removes that amazing stench from our breath and hands. Drinking the salt water also has something to do remedying the "heatiness" of the durians.

Oh! Oh! They also have durians of varying grades. The higher grades can cost quite a fair amount too. They also come in two distinct flavors, sweet and bitter.

I love this stuff.

Killed a snake today, it was on my front porch. It was a baby though. I'm going to have to check all of the good hiding spots a big mother snake could be tomorrow. I have a lot of plants in my yard, and I'm sure a person can be hiding in my yard and I wouldn't know.

Thought I had a picture of how the area looked before all of the plants, and trees but I guess I didn't post them in that ("Ploid" by Vedder) thread. But yeah, tomorrow I go snake hunting.
