I'm very confused now 
I thought what Safer posted was a quilt, now I'm sure we'll learn it's true identity.

I'm gonna have to agree with Safer here. Blanket / Comforter / Patchwork Quilt is the order of these images. Also, a quick google image search for "comforter" and "quilt" turned up images that would back up this order of labeling.

quilts are like big fat things and the higher the tog rating the better, hate being cold so atm I use 3 winter quilts
blankets are thinner materials, quilts / comforter (as you guys call em) aka duvet are thicker made with polyester batting, down feathers, wool, or silk.
EDITfound this Comforters also can be made out of fur, usually with a backing of satin or silk. so still sounds like a blanket of sorts

* Comforter (nipple), a rubber, plastic, or silicone nipple
