The main things it seemed SE focused on was the graphics, the CG video cutscenes, and making the battle system look cool and flashy.

ploids standards are just set way too high imo. i think itll be great. 10 was pretty linear but was still a awesome game.

I thought 10 was "ok" at best. The music was beautiful in that game though; don't think any other has really rivaled it (other than piano-driven "Julia" from FF8) cause that song is fkn awesome.

I usually hate video game music too, but that is totally awesome stuff in that game.

Isn't there a new guy doin music?

Ten was linear but it still let you go backwards a a point, the only backwards you can do in this game is to go to that one open ffxi like area and farm, and that's at the end of the game, and after you beat the game. There is no city to explore (ff10 had that), there is no interaction with something random to break up the pace (ff10 had that, remember the boat trip, talking to the travelers, picking up the ball and playing with it? Remember going to a city after SIN wrecked it and seeing how sad the mood was there? None of that in FF13, it's just you and your buddies with a flash back here and there), everyone will play the game the same way (same upgrades, same weapons, same same) for the first 20 hours. Tutorial is now over!

FF10 might as well be GTA compared to ff13. There are cities in it but they are just backgrounds, you blow right through them. No side things to break up the redundancy of fighting over and over. There's no managing items while you're in this everlasting dungeon because there's always a way out of a fight. So the game is fight walk, and cutscene. Might as well put it on PSN as a tekken story mode type game. Fight your way through 305 battles, get a cutscene after every 20 fights! $40.

This isn't a rpg, GTA:SA is more rpg than this. This is a action game with tube maps.

Can you actually play the game after you beat it?
Like as in, you kill boss x and now the world is free from boss x and everything changes.
Because I've always wanted to play a game that you can continue to play after the end with like more side missions as a result of boss x being dead.

When you beat the game, the game saves and when you load it you are right before you fought the last boss or whatever. The deal is you have access to that one and only open zone. I dont know how big it is but it's said to be the like a ffxi zone. What do you do in that zone? Fight/farm nms and regular monsters.

I just have the feeling it can't be as bad as everyone is saying it is.

You guys might like it, just don't expect stuff like Borderlands loot and upgrades, anything near involving as FF12's world, or exp. There is no exp, also for the first 10 or so hours you don't even gain anything from fighting monsters. After a while you get access to some crystal circle map that have stats. You start gaining CP after fighting, you use those CP to fill out the linear paths in the crystal map. What if you want to fill out the map how you want? It'll cost you a lot more, then when you go back to the way you were supposed to fill it you'll be paying more than you would have if you had just filled it out before iirc.

I'm going to open a gamefly again in a few months (God of War 3, etc.). I'll have this on the bottom of my Q.

Also the weapons and accessories are few, but the thing with them is you upgrade them. It's said to be worse than FF10's weapon upgrade system. Remember FF10's weapon upgrade system?

couldn't find a screen but this might remind you of how it was.

Video explaining in english. No spoiler outside of a green area, and the music?

I say map but it's more of a circle. The Crystarium is made up of layers of these circles. When you fill one out you go up to the next one. Sphere grid was a more unlinear. I think this Final Fantasy is all about story and fighting. Even upgrading is played out how they want you to do it. Also there are level caps until you pass a certain part in the story. Like before you get to Jeuno you'd be stuck at level 18, after you unlock a chocobo you can get to 20-30, to unlock 30 you have to unlock a zm job, etc etc.

The Crystarium upgrade screen.

Dawned on me that this came out today, so I stopped into the Gamestop down the street from my office to see if they had any copies that I could buy. They did, and I did, but alas I don't get home until like 6:30 so I won't be playing till then prolly.

Anyone else get yet?
