Where can I get a cheap computer...

So now that I'm in my major (Computer Engineering the Computer Science Track), I feel that I will be needing a better laptop than my PoS Acer Aspire 6930. Where might I find a cheap computer that's really good? I looked at xoticpc.com and found a decent laptop that's Clevo made (Sager NP something) for about $1k and I built an Alienware for about $1400 that has basically the same build. Would Alienware be worth it? Is Sager a decent brand? HALP.

I worked with a Sager for my job. I had a shitload of problems with it. The wiring near the battery kept coming loose so it would never be able to power the computer. Personal experience tho.

and so far I don't have any complaints. One thing you have to be careful though, I heard they make pc's based off whatever parts you select, so if you configure a pc with 2parts that don't work well together, they'll put it together anyway. Personally, I haven't had any issues with the PC I configured and the prices seemed reasonable. I'd say it's worth looking into.
