Re: XIV Beta invites
The first weekend I played it a ton, the second weekend I got tired of it, and since I never looked back. I like watching people play games rather than play myself these days.

Re: XIV Beta invites
I didn't even check it out yet, probably will when they start saving your data though.

Re: XIV Beta invites
I played a bit to test out the gamepad support, was actually pretty good after getting it set up properly. I don't think there is much point to playing now though since all your efforts would be wasted when they wipe data, but it's nice to just get a taste of what's to come and get a feel for the game in general. I'm hoping things get more fun as you start doing group/party events though because playing alone is really boring.
Btw Mitsu, I sent you a message, (Sir Kooze) but you were afk it seemed.
edit: looks like I don't even know my own characters name ....

yeah, im familiarizing myself with the controls. I might need to buy a new gamepad. Ill add you the next time i log in safer. I was probably afk and didnt see your message.
I really like this man.. no lag and the battles are really smooth. Sad thing is that you get more exp from doing quests that fighting mobs. Once I got use to the map and the area, I was bouncing around so fast doing quests. I am amazed at how fast people are crafting and exping in this game. I saw a few people at lv 20+ and crafters all over the place.

Re: XIV Beta invites
My characters have never been wiped so far. One of my friends was able to use his old FFXIV character too. I wanted higher levels to mess with the abilities. When I got shadowbind I was able to shadowbind between attacks. The only mobs I would have a problem with were the ones that used ranged attacks, magic users were annoying. I like that I can move while attacking, no ranged attack interrupted stuff, so I can keep my distance all while damaging stuff.

That's the direction they're going for this time, no more exp parties for the sake of exp. Leves, repeatable dungeons, missions and quests are where the focus is.Mitsurugisan wrote: Sad thing is that you get more exp from doing quests than fighting mobs. For the beta I think there are NPCs that automatically level you up at a certain point too, it was like that for alpha as well.

Quests sound like more fun than xp grind really.

Re: XIV Beta invites
But I used exp parties to prove my gear was better than yours. Think about the parse battles man! I have a feeling the Leve's will bet very stale. I'm constantly doing the same types of missions, the only thing that change is the type of mobs and the reward item if there is one. I haven't done a dungeon yet.

Re: XIV Beta invites
If a lot of people are around, there's normal ffxi type lag, if you are to yourself things are silky smooth.

Re: XIV Beta invites
I was hoping to experience a big battle or something but that generally didnt happen. And it kept saying that I was getting items but I couldnt find anything in my inventory. I assumed that is because this is beta and we arent getting items besides gear that we have to equip and such.
One thing I dont understand is that why when you use a weapon in combat that you cant resell it? Can I just repair the item and then sell it or is it bound to you forever? That devalues the item a great deal in my opinion.. makes it next to worthless... who is going to spend a lot of money on an item that if you use it, you cant sell it afterwards?
But my general impression of ffxiv so far is pretty good. I really like it so far..

Re: XIV Beta invites
You get come crystal type things and key items that show up in the last page of your inventory and a special key item inventory.
Some items are account bound on use. This should be good for the economy so people don't buy and resell items keeping that item in circulation forever. I'm sure you know the benefits of that.
