Ok (pops knuckles) starting the modding process is the worst part. It's kind of a step by step process of ground work to get the modding starting.

http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/ ... fallout-3/

Archive Invalidation is an important part of the first stages. It sets up the game to allow mods. Maybe that's what's not working.

As you install and add mods you'll start getting familiar of what's going on. You're basically adding the esp files to the data folder, textures and stuff to their folders (located in data folders). Well that's if the mods don't come in a easy to install FOMM package.

I'm not a computer guy but after getting my elbows in it, it still sucks but it makes sense. I think there's a better mod installer now. Try Nexus Mod Manager, I think it also works with Fallout 3. You just find the mod, click on "Download With Manager."

This will be the most important site for finding mods, tools, and utilities.

Nexus Mod Manager (it says skyrim but it works with fallout 3)

Also what are your PC's specs?

It looks like that may have done it. I definitely didn't have Archive Invalidation, though the FOMM didn't work after I got that. I got rid of the FOMM and went with the Nexus Mod Manager and finally got a mod to download. Now I got to wait for it to finish dling before I can see if it actually works.

My specs are:
Intel Core i7-2600 @ 3.40 ghz
16 gb ram
64-bit os (Windows 7)
Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti

You have no idea what you've just done. I'm now pressured to upgrade. And I was thinking about holding out on getting the GTX 680, now I'm forced to.

Why have you been buying console games.

Mine:
*Athlon II x4 640 OC'd to 3.45 ghz (still not better than a intel at 3.0ghz I believe. Read it somewhere).
*4gigs of ram
*win7 64bit
*ASUS GTX 460 DirectCU TOP/2DI/768MD5 (over clocked but 560 runs circles around it all the same).

Challenge accepted. And wait until I tell hoga, you beat him too.

If I were you I would have took that skyrim console back (the gift) and traded it for the pc version. Connected a controller to it (wireless if you have blue tooth) and act like it was a console game that looks next gen.

Well, I bought this computer to run Pro Tools, so spec-wise I needed it to beast. I didn't want to bog it down with games is why I still play/buy console. However, I have not been able to get Pro Tools to install. Idk why, i've tried a crap load of shit. Odd part is the unit I have now was a replacement for one I bought for christmas. That one I got Pro Tools to work but there were other problems so I returned it. This one is supposed to be exactly the same setup, so idk what the problem is. Should probably take it to a pro somewhere.

Anywho, so far modding hasn't worked... game crashed almost instantly on my first try.

Edit: Bam! got the Iron sights mod to work! That alone gets me pumped.

Modding that game is a game in itself. When you level up your modding skill you start adding a ton of different stuff to it.

Doing a google search it seems like pro tools has a bit of a problem with win7. Weird, some people get it to run with win7, and some can't.

Couldn't stop laughing at this.

Edit: Dhil I can't sleep, get another hard drive for games so it won't bog down your pro tools pc... AHHHHH so much power and it's in wait until you get pro tools working. You can also run games off of a external HDD, loading may be slower (though you must have usb 3.0 anyway). The install part on your main pc is just registries and maybe some minor save, .ini settings, and folders in your documents folder.

Disclaimer: Don't listen to Ploid, save that pc for what it was intended for. Ploid is having a blue screen situation with Saints Row 3 because he shouldn't have updated his graphics driver.

Yep it's real, that's how they do things, and it seem to work very well. Sounds like the way google do things too, in that people are allowed to be very creative and stretch their legs and no one gets upset if they fail on a project (Google Wave for example, though I don't know if they failed on that, it seem to have transitioned into another project). There is also that new google laptop that is internet based, cloud storage and so on. Pretty interesting idea.

These types of companies would build cars that don't depend on gas or other stuff because they are their own boss (though I don't know if google is public, Valve isn't though. No share holders to answer to).

I think Google HAS to be public but I'm not positive.

Ok yep, they are public, but Google owns a "vast majority" of it's own stock. So I guess that allow them to be so awesome. They wouldn't be having those awesome April Fools projects that actually work I bet.

Google is public but they own the majority of their own company which is rare but lets them do whatever they want.

Finished reading it, and while it's hilarious and all, I really don't buy it that much that it's the perfect place to work and that there is no management. It implies that you're a/the boss, when you know there's delegates and stuff like that, they just don't wanna come out and say it. My works handbook looks a lot like that too, but isn't the least bit hilarious or awesome or accurate.

I feel like it would make people as productive just due to the lack of constant pressure.

They'd probably be more excited about their work since they are mixing with different types of professionals, and learning something new from them everyday as they work on a project they're interested in. Also we must mention that this is about a game company not a company (entertainment field) not a company that deals with something more structured. There's a lot of ways to shake things up and do things when it comes to entertainment. Google is kinda in this area too.

Steam was created by Valve, and it's making them a ton of money. They are rolling in it, now EA is trying to do a Steam thing but it has a lot of catching up to do.
