The Other Boleyn Girl

Film: The Other Boleyn Girl

Date: Wednesday, 05 MAR 07

Rating: PG-13

Synopsis:Loosely based on true story of Ann & Mary Boleyn and their struggle for the affection of King Henry VIII, and also King Henry's desire for a male heir to the throne. The film also follows the rise and fall of the house of Boleyn and the consequences of lies, deceit, and scandalous affairs.

My Interpretation: Overall, the movie was very well presented. A great overall cast, a hot king, lots of poofy clothes, and funny looking hats (including the queens who looked like she was wearing a small house on her head). In the film, his wife the queen is unable to give him the male child he so desperately desires. So what does he do? He becomes a man whore! The removal of Queen Catherine of Aragon, Englands break with the Roman Catholic Church, and the abandonment of King Henry's only son is a true testament to the power that lies in a woman's.....rosebud (for lack of a friendlier term), and also a testament to the phrase 'you reap what you sow'.

Overall I give it an 8 out of 10. Even if you're not a fan of old English films, it's still worth a watch.

I could watch the film, but I'm pretty sure EVERY SINGLE BRITISH CHILD IN THE UK KNOWS THE FUCKING STORY.

Probably. That goes to show that kings and queens are far more interesting than our boring presidents. :cat:
