With the popular SOCOM franchise set to make its debut on the PlayStation 3 this year via SOCOM Confrontation, fans are psyched, and we are too. The latest issue of EGM -- the one with GTA IV on the cover -- has just arrived in mailboxes across the nation, but we're already looking ahead to our next ish, which will feature an exclusive hands-on look at Confrontation's full 32-player online battles. Hopefully that's enough to get you hungry, but in the mean time we've rounded up a couple brand new screenshots to really whet your appetite. For another image and bigger sizes, take a look at 1UP's media page for SOCOM Confrontation. Check out the upcoming May issue of EGM for all the info on the game and many more pics. graphics look real nice on the ps3, although, i'm kinda skeptical. I was a big fan of the franchise for ps2 and I owned all of them except the one for psp. Socom was fun for its time because there werent many good, online-shooters to choose from and the gameplay was sick, but there were 2 key things that turned me away from this series as they came out with sequels. The first thing was waiting to respawn after you died. It wasn't that bad in socom 1 and socom 2 because for the most part, the levels were small and from what I can remember, the game was only 16 players ish. But in Socom 3, it became more of a nuisance because that one was about 24 players and the maps were 3x bigger, so if 1-2 people camped in a deathmatch, after you died you would be waiting for days for the round to end. The other thing that started to bother overtime was how at times when you're fighting someone up close, you would be running in circles trying to kill each other because the horizontal axis on your gun wasn't fast enough to keep up at times. I'm sure they could fix that by adding some option to increase that but it was a pain back then lol. |

Don't forget da pics This isn't a new socom, it's more like a socom 1 and 2 remake for HD and new assets only on PSN download. This looks awesome by download game standards. Can't wait for this. Pwn pwn pwn. Rehala!!!!! (Couldn't find a terrorist emoticon lol) PWN |

Rahilla!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll be shouting this in Alton Towers on Saturday 26th July from the wildest white knuckle rides! It's part of our socom (now general playstation) gaming clan traditions. First time we ever went together we started shouting this and by end of the day, with hoarse voices we could hear others doing it too! the good old days are nearly back with us, many drunken friday and saturday nights, trying not to kill our team mates and not realising what time it actually is until those lil birds outside start singing and you realise its daylight out beyond the closed curtains Oh Joy Bring It On |

(Couldn't find a terrorist emoticon lol) PWN ROFL, I forgot all about the terrorist/seal cries, what used to crack me up most was the monotone "man down" in socom 1 whenever your teammate died, you would think a dying man would have a little more emotion xD... but those cries do bring back some good memories hehe. I wonder if socom will be better than COD4. I love COD4 and I have a habbit of comparing every modern day shooter to it. Guess only time will tell... |

Yes Mrs. Tyriac gets motion sickness in fps'. There is no game like socom out there. The blending in with the environment to become invisible, moving slowly inch by inch as you get a view in sniper position. The thrill of sniping terrorists as they walk around drug infested tables in their fort. The hostage system, which is so much more interesting than capture the flag or assault (fps assault). And more tid bits of socom. No game seems to try to outdo it, and usually stick with the normal fps/3ps modes. |

FPS games suck. (Except Halo 2 with friends when you're "under the influence") |
