That's right LBP has a new expansion coming out next week. Thing is, you don't have to pay a dime to experience it. New developer created missions, new trophie trophies (barfs), and new stuff to collect for your level creating needs (or other people's level creating needs, which you benefit from as you play them).
Spoilers so watch at your own risk.

* and best of all.....THE PAINTINATOR and Paint Switch
http://news.littlebigworkshop.com/en...ure=83_web.pngWith the THE PAINTINATOR you’ll be able to splatter anything that comes between you and the end of any level. Shoot paintballs with the R1 button and using the right stick to aim. Paintballs will hit very weak slap. Shoot ‘Brains’ from a safe distances now and progress thru levels much easier. The Paint Switch, so you can attach it to any object and set it to destruct after being splattered with enough paint.
This new Level Pack is very exciting as these new items will open up the kind of levels Creators can make!
Now if you don’t buy it, no worries, you’ll still be able to enjoy the MGS fun! Non-MGS Level Pack owners can PLAY the MGS Story Levels by joining a “host” who owns the pack and play the levels online together. You won’t be able to keep any objects, but you can experience the new features. MGS Level Pack owners will also be able to CREATE levels with any of these items (including the Paintinator) and SHARE them online for everyone to play.
Again, we’re very excited to present this MGS Level Pack to you as a taste of how LBP can and will continue to evolve over time! More details on the PS Blog. Be certain we will continue to provide more LBP goodness down the road in 2009.
Have a Merry Holiday and a Happy New Year!
Now, not only will you be able to run, jump, push, pull, swing, etc, etc in LBP, but now you’ll be able to splatter anything that comes between you and the end of any level. Once you equip the Paintinator, you can send sacksized paintballs flying by mashing on the R1 button and using the right stick to aim. Few things about flying paintballs, when Sackboys are hit with them, it feels like a very weak slap. You can also shoot ‘Brains’ from a safe distance and progress thru levels much easier. In addition to the Paintinator, we’re introducing a Paint Switch, so you can attach it to any object and set it to destruct after being splattered with enough paint.[/img]

Media Molecule has created five areas using items pulled in from the Metal Gear universe, introducing a bespoke story that neatly runs throughout. It would be cruel of us to spoil the ways that Solid Snake's world has been interwoven into Sackboy's, as discovering them constitutes so much of the charm of playing through the levels. Rest assured though that all the tropes from Konami's series are intact, the finer points of tactical espionage such as sneaking and facing down giant mechs all placed through LittleBigPlanet's distinctive filter, the seemingly incongruous mix working supremely well.

And this is just the first instalment of what's sure to be a steady stream of content, as Alex Evans tells us: "When we first pitched to Phil Harrison three years ago, one of the lines he came up with was that the Blu-ray release is day one of the project rather than the last day of the project, so what was once your end is your beginning. I knew it and I've said it a thousand times since, but now I really know it."
