Ok so, it's RAM. atm I have x2 515 MB PC4200 DDR-2 ram in my comp and I only have 2 slots (wtf motherboard!?). Going to upgrade and I need at least 2 gigs cuz I got Black Site: Area 51 for xmas, so here's my questions:

1. Can I use PC5300 DDR-2 ram just the same? Is it any better than PC4200 to warrant the cost?

2. Is it advisable to have a 2 gig ram card and a 512 meg card only or should I split between 1 gig each or even 2 gigs each? 4 gigs kinda seems like overkill too.

It's a pretty cheap system, was like 400 off the shelf at Best Buy when I got it over a year ago and figured it'd crap out by now (my last Dell had it's hard drive suddenly completely crash at the 12 month and 4 day mark so the warranty ran out) but it's still running strong and idk if I really wanna upgrade the whole system just yet. It's also a Compaq; idk if that has any bearing but I know some comps are really picky about new gear.

Anyways, if anyone knows I'd really appreciate it; don't wanna go to one of them computer nerd forums just so some guy with +6 numbers/symbols in his name can call me stupid while he answers my question >.>...

P.S. How the fuk do you beat the sniper level in CoD4? (Got it for xmas too ><)

Umm, not exactly sure what you mean here:

But for ram speed, it depends on what your motherboard supports as well as what bus your cpu is running at.

If your cpu bus is running at 800 Mhz, then getting a 533 Mhz RAM won't be faster than your 400 Mhz RAM. However if you get a 800 Mhz RAM then it will help (assuming your motherboard can support that speed of RAM).

Edit: Oh, in your quote your asking if your sticks of RAM should be evenly distributed like 2x1 GB sticks or 1 2GB stick with 512MB. It also depends on your motherboard if it requires pairs. If it does require pairs, then you need two sticks of the exact same RAM.

scene for CoD4
you're in a building when convoy pulls up, wait and watch flag on vehicle, this is how you will know if wind has dropped, take shot at intended target, aiming for chest will give you better chance of hitting him then GTFO real quick.
getting this info from hubby as ive only played online demolition 4 maps only and not only did i feel like i was gonna throw up i actually did throw up, fkn 1st person vomit I really need a 3rd person like Socom to play at ease

Edit
Once target is down escape route is run the fuck away to extraction point, don't try fight it out

Most memory doesn't have a problem running at a lower frequency as intended.

Depends on if your mainboard supports dual channel RAM or not.

I picked up most of this stuff when I built my first computer, and reading a bunch of stuff online.

Alright, I'm not really sure what sort of specifications my motherboard has <.<... and I lost the little book that comes with the comp. Went looking and found this though:

So I think I'm seeing the RAM slots are going together with the 'dual channel PCI IDE controller'. It shows up in the IRQ thing too at least and a few other places, and I don't know what else it'd be for.

I'm not sure where to find what my cpu bus speed is, and I don't really get why the 533 wouldn't be any faster than a 400 if my cpu bus speed exceeds that.

In either case, I think I'll go with dual pc4200 1 gig ram cards unless anyone thinks that'd be totally stupid to do. And thanks for the help ^^

P.S. For CoD4, yeah I sniped the dude just fine but I keep getting wtfpwned at the end waiting for the helicopter to pick me up. Three times now it's come and I went to pick up the lazy captain and got totally wasted before I could get even halfway there -.-;

This information doesn't help. Simply posting the motherboard type would have been much more effective. Dual channel IDE has nothing to do with dual channel RAM.

It's usually printed on top of the board, most times between the PCI slots.

You do exactly what MacMillan says, exactly when he says it. That is all, it gets kinda hard, the last parts a bitch where you have to fend them off. What my friend did, is tossed C4 on the fence in the area near the apartments, and ran into the apartment complex region, and hid, they wouldnt chase after him and the helicopter got way closer, then he blew the C4, turned the corner and killed whoever he could, and ran for MacMillan, picked him up and ran. Took a few tries, but he did it eventually. Drop your pistol and grab a machine gun from one of the guys, never drop the sniper.

Taking notes. But yea I myself picked up a few things when I was forced to open my pc to try to fix something. I never opened a pc before that day and everything inside looked all yucky (wires everywhere, little boxes, a big green card with little green cards sticking out of it, a big beast of a coil thing having the wires run to it [power supply]), but the pc was broke unless I tried to fix it. I needed it for my term paper so I was backed into a wall.
