Here is the playoff picture that I see as of (12/8):
Teams that are in the in the play off picture:
NFC East: NYC Giants (Clinched) NFC North: Minnesota Vikings (most likely) NFC South: Unknown but most likely Tampbay Bucs NFC West: Cardinals (Clinched)
Teams fighting for the wildcard spot (2 spots) Carolina Panthers (9-3), playing Tampa Bay tonight MNF Dallas Cowboys (8-5) Atlanta Falcons (8-5) Philadelphia Eagles (7-5-1) Washington Redskins (7-6) Chicago (7-6) New Orleans (7-6)
Wildcard no.1: I predict that Carolina Panthers will get one wildcard spot but I think they will lose to the Bucs tonight.
Wildcard no.2: So the most likely candidates for this are the Cowboys, Falcons, Eagles for this spot. most likely, the team that will get 11 or 10 wins will get this last spot.
Cowboys Schedule: Giants at home, Ravens at home, Eagles at Philadelphia The Cowboys have the toughest schedule, and have historically played poorly at the end of a season due to playing in the cold. (4-6 in December since 2006) That also explains their lack of a play off win since 1993. However, two of those games upcoming games are played in dallas so they have a little advantage there. I believe that they will lose to the giants, maybe win against the ravens, and lose to the eagles (like I said, the cowboys historically play poorly in december). This finishes their record at 10-6 or 9-7.
Falcons Schedule: Bucs at home, Vikings at Minnesota, Rams at home The Falcons are basically a new team with a rookie QB and new coach. Honestly, I dont believe they can win out the rest of their games, and they are NOT as good as tampa. I believe they will lose to Bucs, maybe win or lose to Vikings, and beat the rams. This finishes their record at 10-6 or 9-7
Eagles Schedule: Browns at home, Redskins at Washington, Cowboys at home. The Eagles historically do poorly at the start of the season, mediocre in the middle of the season, then play very strong at the end of the season. They usually play very well in the cold compared to other teams. David Akers knows better than anyone how to kick in windy and poor conditions. And although they have played poorly in the middle of this season, they finally have a HEALTHY brian westbrook in whom they build their offense around. I believe they will beat the browns, beat the redskins, and come down to a winner-takes-all game against Dallas. And since the Dallas game will be on Philadelphia's home turf, it will be a close game but the Eagles will end up with the win. This finishes their record at 10-5-1. The only team that can throw the eagles off their playoff track is Falcons, they MUST lose to Tampa or 1 other team in order for the eagles to control their fate.
Thus the Wildcard teams will be Carolina Panthers and the Philadelphia Eagles. GOOOOOOO EAGLES!!!!!!!!!
