Also Oraphin, that new firmware update is up. Blu Ray 2.0 or something and maybe that MKV file support + other stuff. I haven't read the thread on it (just found it under a minute ago). I'll let you know if the mkv stuff and further avi (custom codec settings of avi, which is what you're anime must be) support is in.
Firmware 2.2 info so far:
Confirmed by sony as you download the update (change log)* Playlist that were created in Music and Photo can now be copied along with the content they contain to a PSP system. You can play the content on the PSP system in the order that was set on the PS3. (The ability to copy PS3 Music and Photo playlists to a PSP system. )
* BD Profile 2.0 is now supported. With BDs that support BD-Live, you can access Internet content for the BD.
* Resume play can now be used on a BD or DVD even if the PS3 system has been turned off or the disc has been ejected. However, there are some discs on which resume play cannot be used.
* DivX content that exceeds 2 GB can now be played. Also, subtitles can now be displayed for DivX content. (was put there to try to prevent piracy I heard. Guess they said screw it because those files could be home videos and it's taking away from functionality)
What people are saying they found*You can now display subtitles when viewing DivX files. Resume Play - begin playing a DVD or BD disc from the point where you previously stopped it, even if you eject the disc and insert a different movie or game.
*Use your PSP as a remote control to play back your music files on your PS3 without turning on your TV.
*The Internet browser now displays some web pages faster.
*[Save Target] has been added as an option under file. This option lets you save a file that is linked to a web page to your PS3 hard drive or storage media. (Unless this is another thing like [Save File], this is old and just that "save file" was renamed to "save target".
*divX subtitles now supported. Edit: It appears that you have to convert the .srt, and .sub files to divx. This is supposedly a easy task. This link was mentioned as said easy task

I'm posting on the new and improved browser. It did load faster but it still shows the "do you want to run plugin?" prompt.

You now have control over the "settings" functions on your PS3 while remote playing. This is fucking sweet. You can change audio output on the fly from your PSP. Change PS3 themes etc from your PSP.

The streaming links is awesome!
No idea what he means by this.Quote:

Maybe this is what he meant. Divx now able to be streamed in the browser, not just flash video like youtube. Too bad Stage6.com is no more.Ora, seems some anime fansubed videos are working now Read thisQuote:
Dude! DIVX Compatibility was increased! My Bleach episodes and a bunch of other AVIs which weren't working before, are now working fine!

This update fixed the encoding problem the PS3 had with the dattebayo fansub videos. They no longer seem to be freezing after 44 seconds.
You should check your anime collection when you get the chance.

There is also the "Mosquito Noise Reduction" in the Menu while playing a movie. It goes up to 3. I just set it at 3 as i have the others set as 3 aswell. Not sure how much a difference it makes.
Image pointing out Mosquito noise. One of the reasons I hate looking at dvds after watching blu rays. Especially on a hdtv with a poor image quality dvd like elf, and kill bill.

Hasn't been mentioned but...
HUGE STEALTH BLUETOOTH UPDATE
My Bluetooth keyboard now works on games that previously required a USB stick to recognize (for typing text messages and whatnot). One less USB stick to clutter the front of my PS3!
Same goes for my Bluetooth mouse!
Keep in mind I've only tried this on both COD4 and UT3.
Haven't got around to Resistance yet.
Also in the ACCESSORIES menu there's now a MANAGE BLUETOOTH DEVICES menu and REGISTER BLUETOOTH BLURAY REMOTE menu as well.

Ok so overview, it seems like mkv might not be supported still (I haven't tried, it's just that no one said anything about mkv), and it seems that you have a high chance of being able to play your video collection now -the mkv. Ok I'm tired, and quit researching the new info. GL with your anime.
