What is Bionic Commando Rearmed?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bionic_Commando_Rearmed

Quote:
Bionic Commando Rearmed is an update / homage to the classic 8-bit NES game. Originally scheduled for release in May, 2008, the game has been delayed until July, 2008.[3] Developed by GRIN in cooperation with Capcom, the game will feature updated graphics, new areas, additional features and online leaderboards. Capcom has revealed that former Capcom employees who worked on the original NES version will serve as consultants for the new release. In keeping with the American release of the original Bionic Commando, the references to the Nazi party which were prevalent in the original Japanese title will not be featured in Rearmed. Instead, the inadvertent humor resulting from the censorship will be accentuated by purposefully over-the-top voice-acting.

Release Date and Price:
XBLA: August 13, 800 Points PSN: August 14, 10 USD PC: TBA, 20 USD

Special Feature: Expanded PSN Features
Quote:
Welcome to the first installment of our weekly Bionic Commando: Rearmed column. The folks here at the PlayStation.Blog have been kind enough to give us some space to strut our Bionic stuff. Don’t worry, I promise there will not be an excess of swinger jokes.

To kick off this edition, we’d like to mention some of the “PSN specific” content that you can expect for Rearmed. There will be Dualshock 3 support, because we all know that games that vibrate are better and besides… there really is no reason not to implement a feature that has become the industry standard. Also, Rearmed is one of the only PSN games to feature Remote Play support. This one wasn’t as easy to add and, matter of fact, there is one point where we had to “creatively” reprogram the controls to give players the illusion of using 2 sticks (you’ll know when you see it). The classic 2D side-scrolling graphics really fit with the PSP and just make the PSN version all the more cooler.

Of course there is one more VERY cool surprise for those of you who purchase the PSN version… but that is another story for another time.

Is there going to be trophy support?

It was too late into development to add trophy support at this time, however, Ben assures me that we’ll have this feature for BCR in the near future!

Quote:
Game modes like Deathmatch and Last Man Standing are going to make an appearance, but the trademarked Bionic Arm is going to shake things up; it will allow players to grab items from a distance and deflect enemy fire. There will also be a multiplayer mode where weapons don't do any damage; instead, the grappling hook feature of the arm is used to keep players suspended and weapons will merely push them around. The end goal of the mode is to knock other players to the floor.

Ok false alarm, even though this game don't have online MP, the fact the difficulty will totally fly over my local friends heads, and girls usually hate games unless it's sing star #_# (Ok I admit, singstar is pretty cool. Just hardly any good rap, r&b songs. I can only take so much of the Pump It from Black Eyed Peas, and Unbreak My Heart from Toni Braxton) this game is awesome. It's on the JP PSN now, and will be on xbla tomorrow, and US PSN Thursday. From the little I played so far the game hooked me already. It's a tragedy that it's not online MP. They should have dropped the new gen disk version of Bionic Commando and souped this one up for disk, with online MP and a ton of levels, 300 challenges, and at least 10 4player battle arenas.

Well stay tuned for Super Bionic Commando Rearmed Remix for those bullet points.

Un-break my heart
Say that you love me again (clinches fist)
Un-do these hurtful cars
when you walk out of my door
and walk out of my life

(drops to his knees) Un-do these tears!
I've cried so many nights.
Un-break my heaaarrrrtt aah eaarrt (hums at a ok pitch to milk points while not knowing the words)

Lie! This game is the first classic remade in a great way. It's still retro with a dash of "this is how it would be if we had the tech back then, and the brains". The bosses aren't pure cheap anymore, yet still challenging. The weapons are balanced now, and you don't stick with the rocket launcher throughout the game after you get it. This is classic gaming in the modern age at it's finest! Also I copy pasted the OP

Finished the game's story mode. Blew me friggin away. The final boss fight area was somber due to a death, the dark music, and the rain+lightning effects. We need more games like this but for disks and not limited downloadable games. I wonder how it would have been if they went all out and created even more levels and effects. This game looks amazing.

I WANT MORE! (I still have to do the 100+ challenge rooms though. They are very hard)

Oh and the classic retro tunes updated with more depth to the background music rocks! Pure nostalgia points. I was playing this, and someone asked if it was mega man, and they took notice, due to the sound alone. Then they saw how it looked. Next they will be picking up the second controller without madden/singstar in the console. This is nuts!

I couldn't find a video of that final boss area sequence but here is a boss fight. This should have had youtube upload /shakes fist

This vido show it at the end. The final boss thing and a bit of the music. It's teased and brief though (trailer).

This game's sountrack is too much.

Youtubers
Heat Wave

Rise of the Albatross

(These two are my favorite. Well I can't find that end fight music with the rain and such. That would have knocked out Rise of the Albatross)
------------------------------------------------------------------
Amongst Allies

Start up (takes a few to kick in to the start of the music)

Kilt's Hidden Treasure

Intruder Alert

Ok, We'll Move

Leap of Faith

Power Plant

The last fight I was talking about. Click image if you want to see it. SPOILER if you still want to play the game and see this on your own.

Man this game is just perfect in every way. I demand all games be like this. Scrap all of the 3d games (except Socom, and resistance 2) and make them into awesome 2d games with 3d graphics and superb effects/game mechanics.
