Motley Crue - kickstart my heart, dr. Feelgood, primal scream, same old situation - to start off with.
Guns n Roses - mr. Brownstone, nightrain, rocket queen, bad apples - the non obvious stuff.
Alter Bridge - metalingus. It's just a dope song.
Against Me! - stop, thrash unreal.

Aaaaand go.

Pagan's Mind - God's Equation

Porcupine Tree - The Incident

Dream Theater - Black Clouds and Silver Linings

they kinda sound like older priest, not too bad, I'll check out some of their stuff

Dye wrote:
Porcupine Tree - The Incident

I like their music but dudes voice makes me want to stab things into my eardrums :(

Dream Theater - Black Clouds and Silver Linings

I don't know many bands other than the popular classic rock/rap bands, but I'll try :)

Rush
Red hot chili peppers
oasis
busta rhymes (break ya neck)
All That Remains (Heavy metal)
D12
Kansas
Niggaz with Attitude
Dio (holy diver is prolly my favorite from dio)
Smashing pumpkins
Van Halen (very obvious, but I've been listening to it a lot lately, fucking love Eddie)

Symphony X - The Odyssey (Specifically, the song "The Odyssey" - it's a 24 minute epic but the ending is so glorious... TRIIIUMMPPAHNT CHAMPION OF ITTHHAACAA!!)

Pagan's Mind - God's Equation (check out the songs: United Alliance, God's Equation)

John Petrucci and Jordan Ruddess - An Evening With (they're the guitarist/keyboardist of Dream Theater, this live duo thing they did is quite different than typical DT music, recommend "Furia Taurina" and "The Rena Song")

Sonata Arctica - The Days of Grays ("The Last Amazing Grays" is a must listen; there's an orchestral-only version too!)
Sonata Arctica - Unia ("In Black And White", "Paid in Full", "Fly With the Black Swan" especially)

Nightwish - Oceanborn (Symphonic power metal w/ a female singer, some really good stuff though; "Gethsemane", "The Pharaoh Sails to Orion", "Passion and the Opera")

Epica - Design Your Universe (another female vocalist "Burn to a Cinder" and "Design Your Universe")

I shall continue pending your input on these haha

I also like 11th Hour from their album As the Palaces Burn :D remember listening to it so long ago, still great workout music haha

not what I'd call a happy song but might fit your definition XD really good song though, powerful lyrics too
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rdsU-8zfec

I never saw your face and now you're gone without a trace
Except the trace of blood that's deeply scarred into my eyes To fill your place
It'll never be the same but I will love you just the same
I was prepared to be your father How can I ever prepare for that again?
