5th Anniversary Talk Section

The Talk Section began with the nostalgic Play-Online startup screen. Six developers came out for the Talk Section listed here:

Tanaka Hiromichi - Producer
Kawamoto Nobuaki
Ogawa Kouichi
Mastsui Satoshi
Aiba Ryouyuu
Sage Sundi

First, they showed us a 5th anniversary memorial video, which announced the new expansion: Wings of the Goddess. The video made it official.

Below are my notes on the rest of the discussion. I was scribbling like mad so if there are some mistakes, I am sorry.

Aht Urghan missions from here on will greatly involve the Dark Rider
The management came to understand how much an MMO can cost since the intital stages, but Tanaka added, "With a movie you can lose a lot more..." (lol Spirits Within?)
They explained the design process for a new monster, Vampire.
- "Initial drawing" took a few weeks
- "Modeling" took a few months
- "Motion" is a secret
- "Texturing" is done along with Motion
- "Programming" is still unknown because their in the middle of it

Questions taken prior to entering the assembly were now answered in "Letters From Adventurers"

Q: This Beastmaster is feeling very lonely. Won't you give me a companion?
A: Yes, we will. We will definitely help you very soon. We are also adding new magic for existing jobs in the next expansion.
I'm not sure what this fan's problem was, but reading between the lines he wants more pets and party activity. Sounds like something is coming for BST in the next update.

Q: Promathia Missions are still difficult. Won't you give us some relief?
A: We will implement something in June. Items to weaken the enemies and experience point bonuses.

Q: Salvage and Nyzul Isle are too hard!
A: We'll adjust them in June. Imbued Items (Cells) will become easier to get.
A: We'll will add Temporary items you can buy with Tokens from Nyzul. In addition, will fix how your record erases on the 100th floor, instead only clearing it after defeating the boss.

Q: Will we be able to re-choose our Divine Might earring?
A: We have plans for that in June. Besides Divine Might, we are also considering other items that may pleasantly surprise you.

Q: I want a tuxedo.
A: If the demand is there.

Next was a chart that shows where all the items that were changed to BCNMs drop. The Japanese BC names are often wildly different and I don't know every BC name to begin with. So I'm going to look them up in the meantime. I figure everyone here pretty much knows what comes from where anyway, so enjoy the above stuff while I do that.

I expect it will bring lots of sidegrades to our current gear and it won't give us any reason to stop camping three kings every day.

CoP and ZM is done with the Final Verse in mission log! But there ll be a new story! And i think it ll tell a lot of the war before the normal ff story begins! It looks like they open finally "The old land" with all this from the war destroyed areas which you can see in the main video of ffxi! I could imagine that it may will be a little bit like jumping in old areas through time portals or something like this cause they showed some areas in the videos like saruta or marshlands which turn into same areas with other buildings where you can see old ruins atm. Also i think they showed the Jeuno walls undestroyed and the defense walls around jeuno. It looks like if they would start to add an extreme besieged or something like that. Well i hope they ll add a new lvl gap finally that we can lvl up to 80 ... i dont think they add new jobs again. Anyway the video looks awesome already!

I wanna cap merits in war and pld before they let us head to 80... Merit PT's commence!!!!!!!! on a side note i have yet to collect slivers and do the fight for ethereal earring, but if anything is written under current mission log when that is complete it leaves CoP wide open to progress that much further. More missions, more city quests I'm interested! I <3 doing quests and missions, you can thank an old friend who totally brainwashed me into them for that

If you finished the last mission with the earrings ZM and CoP turns into "The Final Verse" and nothing is written in the mission log! So i think thats the end of this 2 add ons! I think there will be something like that for ToAU and the new one aswell!

they could up till 80 without worrys! spells and abilitys which could make ppl to tough start at 41+ so i think there would be no worrys about the sub up to 40

Wow... Welp, Zilart was all about the Zilarts... CoP was all about Promathia... TOAU is all about New Shit... WoG (lol WoG) seems to be all about Altana ("Wings of the GODDESS"). And there's some Pictures in that video of ToAU CSs that still haven't been released, but if this is due out in Winter, then we are looking at what... 4 more Updates, max? 3 is a definate (June, August, October, but they have been doing 3-monthly updates so far). So the ToAU story has to conclude. 8 Assault Ranks are available atm, and I'm sure that there's going to be 10 in total. I hope that the next update doesn't complete the ToAU Storyline... It's waaaaaaaaaay too easy to do and requires much harder BCNMs and Missions, althought the Storyline is fucking fantastical. They still need to impliment the Collesium (Which I believe they will do this coming update), finish both Major Storylines (Missions and Assaults), as well as New Job AF2, Af1+1, Af2+1, Merits, JSE and perhaps relics, which I doubt they will do. Also they need to open up Halvung Testing Grounds... Much to do in a mere 3 updates, methinks...

Actually, if they are just old zones reskinned, I'm going to be kinda disappointed. :/
